The Electoral College will cast votes in the fifty states on December 17th. About half of the states require their electors by law, more or less to vote for the popular vote winner or political party winner. The rest do not require electors to vote for a specific candidate.
Obama apparently won the popular vote on November 6th.
What if it becomes clear before the Electoral College vote that Obama was running weapons from Libya to Al Queda in Syria and Egypt for use against Israel and perhaps against our American servicemen?
I say popular vote be d@mned.
Nothing will change
The 17th amendment was the “empowerment” snake oil that gave us senators elected by popular vote within states. Its why a state with a solid GOP majority legislature state like Michigan gets senators like Levin and Stabenow.
I’m having trouble figuring out whether the fantasy that Obama electors could be convinced to change their vote is sillier, dumber, or a bigger waste of time than all the White House seccession petitions.
Key words,”What if”
This would explain why 0bama removed Petraeus’ reference to ‘Al Qaeda’ from his assessment. Our President is protecting Al Qaeda? NO PROBLEM! FOUR MORE YEARS!!! /S
Intriguing idea especially in light of the deeply disturbing details that are pouring out as this Benghazi story and now the Tampa connection unravel. Each day the White House is more and more directly implicated in a massive cover up of what appears to be an adminstration working against our national interests.
This related story broke today - this is the woman who asked for diplomatic immunity when she was exposed. Media sneered at her for being such a ditzy housewife. Seems she may have had reason to believe she was entitled to ask for it.
If Obama was to prance on the stage naked as a jay bird at a public press conference announcing he was now the absolute monarch, the press would gush in admiration, compliment him on his wardrobe and his electors would still vote for him.
I pray for the second coming of Jesus Christ or an Augusto Pinochet in our military.
Correct. But I too have fantasized about the EC staging a coup, or revolting or whatever ya wanna call it, and declaring their votes for Romney.
After all if 59 precincts in Philly can vote 19,605 to 0 for Obama and nobody even blinks an eye, then who’s gonna care if a few EC votes go the other way.
Yep. ‘Negative publicity’ was withheld by THE PROPAGANDA MEDIA to ensure 0bama’s victory, so.. If the truth changed, why not the vote?
0 is democrat. democrats are not held to the same standards as normal people. 0 will get the votes.
Electoral College ping!
I didn't realize sedition was a conservative value.
Rescuing a drowning person, even if they are attempting suicide, is hardly sedition.
Excellent point, but totally lost on the "power by any means necessary" crowd.
I was not commenting on the Jesus part. Wishing for a military coup in the US is seditious, IMHO.
I understand that at sometime, somewhere the congresspersons assembled as a body will have to accept/agree on the electoral votes. At this stage if there are some members of congress who will stand up (don’t count on such as McConnel and Boehner) and make an objection for cause of hearing the numerous charges of fraud and ineligible voters, the certification of electoral votes might be sidetracked. Of course with Biden presiding this possibility can be stopped dead by the chair calling the votes unanimously approved. I’m interested in seeing how Obama and his enablers handle petitions to punish secession signers.
If there are Godly men among the electoral college than I pray they will look to Him, and not the deluded citizenry, before making their decision. Your post is one of the first things to give me hope since the awful night of November 6. Thank you.
Unfortunately, it wouldn't matter. Once the States send their Certificates of Ascertainment and Certificates of Vote to the President of the Senate, aka Plugs Biden, the outcome is a done deal.
A distant cousin of mine was an elector from Missouri in 1948. No way he was not going to cast his vote for Truman...he was Truman's personal lawyer.
I agree insofar that the formalities as stated in the Constitution leaves the counting of the electoral votes up to the assembled congresspersons apparently without recourse. However, it is in this ‘counting’ requirement that it seems there might be/could be a ray of hope to at least question the votes as these are being counted e.g. is/was such and such a vote based on legitimate election voting. I don’t like the idea of setting a precedent but at this time with demonstrable fraud at such a time in our history and with the Chicago method of getting votes/voters such action is probably warranted.
