Democrats Oppose Nomination of Rice to Secretary of State
Flopping Aces ^ | 11-27-12 | Wordsmith

WaPo has run an editorial conspiratorially half-baked suggesting that Democratic opposition to Rice's nomination are racially motivated:

Rice’s nomination, noted the Washington Post, garnered “the most negative votes cast against a nominee for that post in 180 years.” As the Senate debated her nomination, Senator Barbara Boxer charged that Rice “frightened the American people” into supporting the Iraq War; Senator Jim Jeffords accused her of being part of an effort to “distort information” in the service of “political objectives”; and Senator Pat Leahy, who voted in her favor, endorsed her by saying that her tenure as national-security adviser lacked “strong leadership, openness, and sound judgment.”

Oh, snap! Waitaminute...

Oops! That was back in 2004!!! A different Rice! The one we're talking about isn't a Republican but a Democrat. Here's the WaPo editorial:

The oddity of the Republican response to what happened in Benghazi is partly this focus on half-baked conspiracy theories rather than on the real evidence of failures by the State Department, Pentagon and CIA in protecting the Benghazi mission. What’s even stranger is the singling out of Ms. Rice, a Rhodes scholar and seasoned policymaker who, whatever her failings, is no one’s fool.

Could it be, as members of the Congressional Black Caucus are charging, that the signatories of the letter are targeting Ms. Rice because she is an African American woman? The signatories deny that, and we can’t know their hearts. What we do know is that more than 80 of the signatories are white males, and nearly half are from states of the former Confederacy. You’d think that before launching their broadside, members of Congress would have taken care not to propagate any falsehoods of their own.

Get that? Opposition to Susan Rice must be due to race. Forget what even left-wing non-think tank Think Progress notes in regards to Senators John McCain and Lindsay Graham who are high-profile leaders in opposing Susan Rice:

I believe the game here is that they really don’t want John Kerry as Pentagon Chief. So the obvious choice is to offer him the State Department job. As for Rice? She likely wants a top-level job in the White House, but there’s not much else that’s she’s qualified for.

Well, they obviously couldn’t have Hillary Clinton go on five news shows because she’s just a shy, retiring little wallflower. Come on! If they thought the message was true and positive, all you’d have seen on Sunday morning was Hillary auditioning to be President. It was a lie and it was bad news and they made a deal with this woman to let her have a run at Secretary of State if she took one for the team. OK, Sue, you forgot that your team is America and not the Democrat party. Go to work for the Democrat party. You chose them over us.

Nah, it couldn’t be because of her bald-faced lies to the American people with no good excuse.

Actually, I think the game that's being played here is that John Kerry REALLY wants to be Secretary of State, and his old, good pal John McCain (and they really are close friends) is carrying water for him.

Susan Rice’s father was an economics professor at Cornell (he died last year at the age of 91). So she could be Secretary of the Treasury. Anyone who doubts her qualifications can be dismissed as a racist...unless it turns out she has always paid her taxes.

0bama chose Rice BECAUSE she's a black female. Because someone had to lie for him, they needed to automatically be shielded from criticism by a race card, gender card, sexual preference card, etc.. A 'twofer' or 'threefer' card holder is a HUGE BONUS and Rice is a TWOFER!!!. 0bama set out to cover-up the terrorist attack at Benghazi by DOWNPLAYING it and needed someone to go on television and LIE about it. Rice was the logical pick for 0bama, just as MARXIST Elena Kagan was the logical pick because no one would DARE deny confirmation of a LESBIAN to SCOTUS, OMG!!!!! THEY'D BE 'HOMOPHOBIC' OMG!!!!

Let's count the 'class cards' held by 0bama regime members.. Hmmm.. There's so many, STARTING WITH 0BAMA HIMSELF, and it's worked so well for him too!! I can't think of a single thing 0bama could get impeached for.. Not a thing. He's already committed just about every impeachable offense and still holds office.. Eric 'Contempt of Congress' WithHolder too!! He's black can't touch'em!!!

I thought that, after Warren Christopher’s uninspiring tenure, there was an unspoken agreement that white males cannot be selected for Secretary of State.

Can anyone imagine being used like that, and still want to serve in that administration? How is that possible?

Ms Rice heed some advice, RUN don't WALK, get the hell out of DC ASAP, they are not through with you yet, your so gullible.

Advice to anyone thinking of joining up, RUN let the lesson of what they have done to Ms Rice be a WARNING.

The message is that it is okay to approve unqualified, incompetent and dishonest appointees, so long as they are black. ...Just remember that Hillary is the high mark that is being aimed for. In that light, Rice isn’t much of a game changer.

Wouldn’t it seem that at some point all this shouting “racist” is going to run out of gas or worse backfire with major long-term implications for those of color?

Even the bamaClaus sheeple will eventually be fingered as racist and will realize that “racist” calling is all these people have.

There is no white racism anymore. If every response is labeled racist then clearly none can be distinguished as racist. I gave up racism several years ago, that is to say that I refuse to acknowledge its existence. If Al Sharpton cannot be prosecuted immediately on hate crime violations then nobody ever again should face such charges. If Eric Holder cannot be disbarred for egregious selective prosecution that violates the 14th Amendment to the Constitution then anti-discrimination law and regulation should never be enforced again.
