It is creepy beyond description. It is like a glimpse into the mind of what one would expect from a serial killer or rapist. A few years ago there was a domestic murder-suicide not far from where I live. It was done with a machete.

That is a very valid opinion. An old colleague of mine from the financial world with whom I long ago severed connection got into that snare and man did he turn into a monster. Last I heard he was in jail.
You must not have seen the man “play”. I think it is prescient.
Projection
Psychological projection or projection bias is a psychological defense mechanism where a person subconsciously denies his or her own attributes, thoughts, and emotions, which are then ascribed to the outside world, usually to other people.
