I don't worry much anymore that the general public, or even radical politicians, will consider ideas such as Andrew J. O'Connor presented in this forum to repeal the Second Amendment. Public support for such an act is not strong.
What would actually be the result of even a proposal to repeal the Second Amendment by the president or Congress? Not much would happen in the way of reducing violent crime, I suspect. After all, there are already millions and millions of all sorts of firearms out there and I don't know many people that would rush to turn them in to the local authorities.
But what would really occur would be a heaping of fuel onto the fire that is the secessionist "movement." Yes, I know that it is not really a fire at this point, perhaps only a spark. I also know it is easily dismissed by many who want to believe that it is fueled only by racists who are disturbed by the fact that we have a black president.
I have a somewhat different perspective in that I believe the main impetus of this "movement" is related to the continuing assault on the Bill of Rights that began many years ago, gained momentum following 9/11 and has been intensified under our current president...

Yeah, right.
If the other crap hasn’t done it, one more won’t do it.
But I imagine that a lot of individuals will ‘secede’ in their own little ways.
Yep. If Dumbo ventures much farther in the point on this mission, he’ll trigger backlash that cannoy be predicted.

I only know one thing about the future, it is not constant.
Structures are engineered to hold up to a certain load. Usually much more then the engineer expect the structure to ever be asked to hold up.
However, there are many variables and a structure will fail if more weight then it was designed for was placed in it. Or if not properly maintained key points can rot or be damaged, or someone could actually modify the structure without understand what their modification will do.
When the structure fails, it is usually quickly and without warning. Someone could predict that if you did this, this and this, eventually the structure will fail but they may not be able to predict exactly when.
Our nation was build with a strong foundation, and three separate branches. A check and balance system was establish so that growth and change can be handled without too much stress on the system.
The founding fathers gave newspapers powerful protection against the government in exchange they were suppose to be the final watchdog over those that would rule over us.
It is clear now that for close to a hundred years the left has slowly been building up a power base so they pretty much control the media, education, unions, and a good portion of our most populated states.
We are in effect living in a one party state where compromise is not required, opposition is shut off, and unconstitutional laws go unchallenged.
This is all adding to the stress on our nation.
What is it that is going to change things? I don’t know. That is trying to predict the future. We can not predict the event that will trigger it, we can, like an engineer stress testing a beam know that it will break at some point.
When it does, the rules as we know them will also change.
We do need to separate, but not by state but by the major red and blue lines. There needs to be a major split in Cali as well.
The new Constitutional states of America need to instantly regroup and control the export of all fuel, food, power and water. It will be available to the Socialist obama world but at our price..... And since the vast majority of our land defense assets and missiles are now contained by the new CSA we are going to have to do some additional dealings of providing for the defense of the SSA. (socialist states of America)
I’m wondering just how much crap the socialists can talk when they have almost no food, water, power, and not even a place to dump their garbage.
It is time for them to be bluntly told that if they do not like our nations constitution then get the hell our of it. Make your own country and leave the true Americans out of it. We are better off without you.

More specifically, not only did John Bingham, the main author of Sec. 1 of the 14th Amendment, officially clarify that the 2nd Amendment protects personal rights, but he also indicated that 14A applied 2A gun right protections to the states.
See 2A (Article II) in the middle column on the page at the following link. The page is from the Congressional Globe, aka the congressional record of the mid 19th century.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news.
No there won’t be secession.
Yes. There will be gun control. Yesterday was a watershed moment.
Those laws will accomplish nothing, and these attacks will continue, because no one was smart enough to do anything that mattered at all.
Right now our enemies, of which there are plenty, now know exactly where and how to hurt us.
And our children and their schools will remain without defense.
Peace through strength. Weakness and fear promote agression.
I would like to see the states “seceed” by refusing to pay some of the taxes that the federal government imposes on them. Taxes are what support the Democrat/socialist/communist regime.
We Americans were left this wise message from the Foundersin the Declaration:
“and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.
The current demographic makes it difficult to predict when those evils will become insufferable...and what will follow.
Suppose a state were to pass a statute officially stating that the state recognized that a particular federal statute was contrary to the Constitution and was therefore illegitimate. Suppose further that the state initiated a public-relations campaign to inform all its citizens that if they were ever called for jury service in a case involving that statute, not only would they have a right and duty to recognize the statute’s illegitimacy, but they would also have a right and duty to frustrate any efforts to exclude from the jury those who recognize the statute’s illegitimacy? The Constitution plainly states that someone accused of committing a crime in a particular state has a right to a trial by jury of citizens from that state. If any jury empaneled by the federal government with citizens of a particular state would refuse to enforce a particular statute, what power would the federal government have?
A pro Constitution article from Boulder, Colorado - that writer must drink only bottled water.
Why bottled water? Because Boulder is so extremely Liberal that given the obvious fact “Boulder Dementia Syndrome” is endemic in the area, it must be something in the water.
Sir, there are from day to day many assorted freepers with similar comments as yours. Seemingly to you guys the thought of the U.S., as it exists today, coming to an end is laughable and anyone thinking otherwise is an idiot. Many liberals thought the same of the Soviet Union.
I would say to you that the thought the USA can survive as it is currently consituted geographically and politically, is, more and more, laughable.
The divisions between the left and the right are like the Grand Canyon and not so co-incidentally are geographic. Liberals occupy the east and west coasts and Austin, Texas for the most part and conservatives the rest of the country. Some day, Push will come to shove! Count on it! That liberalism per se and not guns is responsible for Connectticut will be a defining issue...........maybe the spark.
It’s easy to say “secession will never happen” as long as the goodies flow.
Peaceful breakup, please, before it gets worse.
Repeal of the 2nd Amendment is foolishness proposed from time to time by people who do not comprehend the nature of our rights...
The right to self defense and by corollary the means to secure it is a natural right and inalienable...
Natural rights are rights not contingent upon the laws, customs, or beliefs of any particular culture or government, and therefore universal and inalienable.
The natural rights guaranteed by the Bill of Rights aka the first ten amendments to the Constitution of the United States are inalienable, and cannot be bought, sold, or transferred from one individual to another.
Of course, none of this will deter those intent on having their way despite such “technicalities”..They will likely try and soon, given the recent window of opportunity they believe Sandy Hook has now provided...
They are wrong this time, too, and may have to be shown their error...
Our inalienable natural rights are worth fighting for...

Are you planning to attend the rally for Texas Independence in Austin on the Capitol steps on Tuesday, January 8th, at noon? I have joined the Texas Nationalist Movement. They have been growing exponentially and have formed a PAC. They have been working to educate Texans about peaceful separation since 1994. They are holding meetings in many Texas cities and are organizing county by county. They have a website and a FB page.
Thanks for the invite but I will be 2,800 miles away that day...............getting some fresh air......lol!
