If he were not mentally disabled, I’d agree with you.
However, his disability would not have allowed him to purchase a weapon.
If you cannot even purchase a gun legally, what the hell are u doing learning
how to use it? That was a bad decision by his mother.

So many questions. Did she take him to the range once or often? If he had not been around the guns how was he so proficient with one? Loading, using more clips. He had to know about the guns. How could he shoot her if the guns were locked up and then he got the key? Did she have a pistol by the bed for protection and the others locked up? Was he on drugs, medication, or drunk? How did he get in a locked school with a rifle?? Did he have to identify himself to get in. Was this legal process started and he told the school he came to get his records? The only question that can be answered truthfully is “Has the media done its usually horrible job in seeking the truth?” Resounding YES to that.

No idea where folks would get the idea that safes can't be cracked ~ as I've mentioned several times, we had an ex-con down the street who occupied himself with rehabing old cars and selling them; in between he'd do part time repair work on other cars for folks in the neighborhood.

Although he'd been convicted of embezzlement the gang he'd been in did other stuff so, he'd give neighbor kids who'd come to visit his son and chase the dozens of banty chickens on the lot all sorts of pointers on how locks of various classes worked, and how to trick them out.

plenty of examples there ~ his hobby perhaps. It's not all that hard with older technology ~ just think like the lock. There are modern systems that are much more difficult, but they are also very expensive.

I never get locked out.

The real question is could he have purchased a gun legally with his
disability. The answer is no. So, his mother had no business teaching
that freak how to use weapons, he could not even purchase legally
with his disability.

I like what you are saying, and what you are not saying.

I believe the only thing we know for sure about the killer is he had Asperger's syndrome, the "mildest" form of autism.

Many kids are born with autism. Should all families with autistic children have gun safes? What about families with gay children, or who might be? What about families with narcissistic kids? Possible sociopaths? What about all families?

It's hard to deny that the mother made a fatal mistake. But as the evidence rolls in, she doesn't seem to have been a monster, or a negligent mom. Far from it. In fact, the mom seems to have operated within the range of what most of us here would consider acceptable behavior, if not for what hindsight tells us.

See question 11f.
He could have legally purchased a gun.
Even if the answer to 11f was yes, all he had to do is lie and no one would be the wiser since he is protected by HIPPA laws that won’t let his doctor disclose that information.

the media had an agenda not just guns but to not mention their failed agenda on how kids should be raised and dealt with plus lets not forget if they do mention that and raising kids then the questions comes up about movies, video games and there is no way they will attack their own in Holloywood.

What we;re seeing is that the media has not just got bias in the politics now but also not reporting issues and facts like this mother, how the kid was raised , what decisions did she makes, who got his guns why take him to the range, where was the father/

The media will just mention gun control as this is their biggest way now to use since the failed attempt at guns being shiped over the bordr and having the Mexican President talk before congress about our gun laws and how so many have died from guns from America

I suspect he killed mom because she was trying to stop him.

If there was a safe I’d bet he knew how to get in to it.

I have a liberty safe in my basement, damn near went through the steps on the way down there. Bolted to the floor as well.

It was brought in to my home in a refridgerator box :)

Neighbor kinda figured it out when he was watching them bring it in.

“Man that is one heavy fridge you got there!”

He knew what it was. he suggested I buy it.

I have the same memories with my dad.

We went fishing.

She should have chosen something less dangerous to bond with him. Like fishing.

The FBI does background checks. His condition would have been exposed.

We tried that too. Wasn't less dangerous in our case. He was a WW2 Marine so 1/4 sticks of TNT rather than 4# test line (just kidding)

Just heard on the news that she was starting thelegal process to be named his guardian.....

A Tacoma news source said they were considering moving here (where I live) to Washington state.

As if the west side of this state doesn't have ENOUGH nuts, for pete's sake.

But it won’t help any. Everybody can crack these things.

We’ve all seen Jason Bourne on TV, so it must be true ;).

I agree with you 100%

If I was the parent or spouse of those 26 murdered at the school I would want to know:

1—Was there a gun safe?
2—Was it secure
3—If it was secure, did her son manage to get gain access in spite of any safe guards. NEVER underestimate the cunning of the mentally ill.

There will be lawyers. There will be many lawyers asking those questions on behalf of the families. There will be claims against her estate.

If I learned the guns were not secured as much as humanly possible in spite of the fear of her son’s increasing mental illness, I would be first in line to file a suit against her estate.

If he was able to access those weapons in spite of precautions which would thwart 99.9% of anyone trying to access those weapons, she deserves to have that known as as well.

My father-in-law has a gun safe in the basement. My husband and I tried to open it one day, combination in hand, to no avail. We never did get it open. I could not believe a combination could be so complicated. I do not doubt it would have been less of a challenge to someone with Lanza’s mindset.

You are engaged in pure speculation, yet try to wield it as if it were iron fact.

Your posts are no better than the MSM’s attempts to sway public opinion to blame the gun.

It now seems mom was trying to get conservatorship of her adult son so as to attempt to institutionalize him.

Mom did volunteer at the school and was friends with the principle & psychologist there whom he thought was advising his mom.

And he felt his mom loved the kids at school more than him.

can disagree with me but the facts is after working wiht kids and my wife working with kids over 30 years and having kids and seeing their friends then I;ll go wiht what we have seen .

It’s no coincidence that the left attacked the traditional family in the 60’s and then society went to crap, divorces went up, kids with not both parents went up, people living on welfare went up, etc etc etc .

Obviously there will be a couple who donot like what I say about how the modern family is because they are the modern family
