Newtown resident Natalie Barden, 10, has already faced more in her short life than many of us could imagine — burying little brother Daniel Barden yesterday, one of the 20 victims of a horrific school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary.
Natalie Barden’s little brother wanted to be a firefighter, and in Daniel’s honor, scores of uniformed firemen lined the streets in a sober procession to guard the tiny casket at his funeral Wednesday.
Parents Mark and Jackie Barden described their son in a statement, saying:
“Words really cannot express what a special boy Daniel was. Such a light. Always smiling, unfailingly polite, incredibly affectionate, fair and so thoughtful towards others, imaginative in play, both intelligent and articulate in conversation: in all, a constant source of laughter and joy.”
The Bardens’ daughter Natalie has now, less than a week after losing Daniel, bravely undertaken action to affect change after her brother’s tragic murder. That a ten-year-old girl is forced to endure this needless loss is heartrending — that she has to speak up where adults have failed is shameful.
From a letter to President Barack Obama, Natalie Barden’s words were read aloud on CNN last night by Anderson Cooper.
Concisely and achingly, the girl implores:
“My name is Natalie Barden and I wanted to tell the president that only police officers and the military should get guns. If people want to do it as a sport than they could go to a shooting range and the guns would not be able to leave there.”(continued)

I’ll cut her some slack since she just lost her brother, but I’m sure the loony left will exploit this little girl with no bounds.
That letter was NOT written by a 10 yr old..looks like something Feinstein would write
Soon there’ll be a ‘Barden Bill’ just like a ‘Brady Bill’. How adorable. GIRL POWER! No one would dare vote down a Bill named after a 10 year old girl!
I doubt the letter was written by the 10 year old girl but rather was penned by a family member or a Democratic operative.
Before the letter goes viral, some conservative media or a talk show host should conduct a handwriting analysis to determine if the girl really wrote it.
I understand this girl’s grief is something no 10 yr. old should endure. But for the LIBERAL media to EXPLOIT a letter “written” by a child is lower than low. This girl has no more understanding of our right to bear arms than the man in the moon.
Why haven’t we seen these letters from other children going to the president asking him to outlaw cigarettes? They kill 10’s of THOUSANDS a year. Or outlaw alcohol as people drive drunk and kill THOUSANDS each year. I’ll tell you why.
Our current gov’t couldn’t give a rat’s ass if we all die. But they DO care if we can defend ourselves against their tyranny....and cigarettes and alcohol don’t threaten that.
No 10 year old would phrase it like that. I'm calling bs and shame on the parents. Prayers for their loss but disgust for whomever is pulling this. Shame on hussein and everyone who is using these sweet children for their money scams and agendas.
We should have all our legislation written by emotional 10 year olds...

I bet the parents’ statement was composed by someone else, too. I know if I lost a child, I wouldn’t be able to put something together like that.
It often seems like we already do.
The focus should be on the evil person who did this, and how to fix it so people like that are not allowed to wander free in our world.

It is rather amusing that a 10 year old skull full of mush, who is in the middle of mourning the loss of her brother, would govern 300 million plus people in the same way that the Democrat party governs! This is just proof that Democrats have skulls full of mush too!

A 10 year old knows so much about the world. She needs to watch this movie
about all the victims in countries that didn’t allow weapons and then come back with her thoughts.
