ROSELLE With the urging of Mayor Jamel Holley, the Roselle Borough Council last night unanimously adopted a resolution calling for criminal background checks to be mandated on all gun sales in the United States, and that lethal, military-style weapons and high-capacity magazines be kept off the streets.
Measures must be enacted to make gun trafficking a federal crime, Holley said. There are now 30,000 Americans killed every year as a result of gun violence, destroying families and harming communities. How many more tragedies can this country withstand before real action is taken?
Holley is among 725 mayors involved with Mayors Against Illegal Guns, a bipartisan coalition working to protect their communities by keeping guns out of dangerous hands
Elected officials have a responsibility to protect their communities by holding gun offenders and irresponsible gun dealers accountable, Holley said...

If one counts suicides, then yes we have 30,000 deaths by guns per year.
The town is named after one of my relatives who did not know how to spell it, correctly!
:)
30,000.
I'll believe these hypocrites are actually concerned about the loss of life when they pass a resolution regarding abortion.
I would in no way disrespect those that die as a result of gun violence, but 30,000 is fewer than ten days worth of aborted babies in the U.S. (3,300 per day in 2008).
Before Mayor Holley rides self-satisfied back to the farm on a turnip truck would someone like to tell his that NICS was made law in 1998?
his = him
Runs like a top.
It sure ain't $179 these days, though.
How about criminal background checks on politicians, results to be published during election cycles, not after... After all, we wasn’t responsible leaders with good judgment...

Would that have stopped the Newtoem slaughter?
NO.........
So what is your point??
and that lethal, military-style weapons and high-capacity magazines be kept off the streets
But lethal 22 caliber revolvers are okay??
If you are ignorant on a particular subject you maybe should not show that ignorance by making stupid comments.........
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber barons cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. (C.S. Lewis.)
How many fatalities involved automobiles? Prescription medications? Swimming pools? Bicycles?
You can actually make a decent full auto weapon from just a grease gun, this one was very popular with the Brits I believe in WW2.
Stricter gun laws have never succeeded in disarming the lawless - only the law-abiding.

You forgot Doctors.
“DOCTORS KILL MORE PEOPLE PER YEAR THAN GUNS”

Once in a fit of boredom, I bought one of these at that price - lower actually. Shoots okay but it sure ain’t no beauty. The stock is like some of the parts I used to get in those plastic model airplanes. I even once bought a “dress-up” stock that makes it look damned near like a Beretta CX-4, really close looking. Even with that it still is about $225...
I’m waiting for some gun turn-in program that will give me $300 for it.
If you give a doctor enough time with you, he will certainly kill you.
