(Vanity) What do you all think about leaving the GOP?
Self | 1/3/13 | Thunder Sleeps

I'm fed up with the GOP. Lackluster performance the last few years. First they somehow let a relative nobody with no real experience beat them in 2008. Then they limp through 4 years allowing him to grind the Country down. Then they run another unsuccessful campaign against a guy with absolutely nothing going for him. obama had nothing on his record for 4 years - nothing that was a positive. Yet the GOP managed to lose to him and his machine, again. Beating obama in 2012 should've been like shooting fish in a barrel. Now they (the GOP Congress critters) cave on the fiscal negotiations.

"It is easier to conquer the Republicans from within and take over the party apparatus. We need another year like 2010."

That would be the only thing that I can think of that would help at this point. I have been a registered (Conservative) "U" in my state for years. "U" is "Undeclared."

uh. look. conservatives can’t unite behind the GOP. it just hasn’t happened. so why keep beating a dead horse. the liberals are in power, nationally, anyway so there is certainly nothing to lose. so what’s your point. the GOP is glad to see us go and we’re glad to go. it’s a win win. we win because we can work at the state and county level to get trustworthy conservatives into the system as independents or whatever they can best run as.

we can, however, unite as independents, other, decline to state, etc. that may be the path to forming a true third conservative party. anyway it’s a start. it’s the path i and many of my conservative friends are taking in the lost land of ca for sure.

Don’t be silly.....Mitt Romney will run again with Christie for Extra RINO credentials. Any REAL Conservative canidate will be frozen out in 2016 as the GOP-e (Surrender Monkies) will argue that the Country has moved “Left”. I bet Mitt can lose by a MUCH larger margin to Hillary!

Long post you got there CharlesWayneCT.
I agree with it.

Since 1988, I only voted For Bush in ‘88 and Bush in ‘04. All the rest I just pressed the “R” button.
If the selection doesn’t get better next time ,
I won’t be pushing the “R” button. It won’t be the
“D” button either.

As usual, the Pubbies run when the chips are down and the Dems circle the wagons.

I say open fire on the socialists.
Maybe Boehner et al won’t do it but the Tea Party has been MIA for 3 years.
This aint all Boehners fault.

I am totally done in 2016 following another endangered, white RINO Judas named "crispy cream" nomination. Good ole Putzs', we can count on them! 90+ % of the elected GOP lacks backbone, conviction, integrity and personal responsibility...come to think of it, what really separates D's and R's today? hmmmm? When Mclame and Goober Graham are purged, send me a note. Otherwise, I wait and pray for the useless Sens and Reps voting for gun control to pass their worthless sh!t laws against our constitution, yet not have the conviction to collect them personally. ding dong, hello, is maxin "Bang..Bang..Bang..wat...

Don’t assume that the Tea Party has been MIA. It’s a simple reality that you need to pick and choose your fights. If you blow your political assets on minor fights, you won’t have them for the really big ones.

As bad as a deal as the fiscal cliff agreement was, you can be sure that the Tea Party ensured that it wasn’t worse. As I understand it, Boehner went in with 800 billion dollars in increased taxes/reduced deductions, but Obama laughed in his face, but the agreement signed called for only 600 billion dollars in increased taxes/reduced deductions. Somebody twisted the Republican party’s arm into only allowing that lesser increase.

I left in 2007. Voted for Romney though. Couldn’t bring myself not to. I’ll stay Indy until Republicans stop enabling the destruction of our fiscal solvency.

I don't have to leave the GOP. It left me a long time ago.

Sarah Palin was a cool drink of water, and we've had some good local candidates from that party, but for the most part their wishy washy negotiation and caving like a house of cards has been as energizing as a lullaby.

I said the last POTUS election was the GOP's to lose, and danged if they didn't. They've been trying to be more Democrat than the Democrats, which has only sped the growth of Marxism and moved the political "center" sharply to the left.

If they have had to, they have scuttled their own members and candidates to keep the Communist progression going, and they've done such a fine job of that, that I don't think incompetence is the problem. Ergo, they intend for the US to slide into the Global Marxist Totalitarian abyss, and aren't beyond giving it a strategic nudge here and there.

In a nutshell, what I want most from government is for it to leave me alone, stay out of my light sockets, out of my bathroom, and don't even get near the gun cabinet. I don't need it groping me so I can travel "safely" as if I am going to be subjected to anything more demeaning than getting on a plane. At least if some SOB without a badge tries to kill me I am free to do my damndest to render them ineffective, permanently if necessary. It is the ones with the badges who are the greater threat.

What the Democrats haven't been able to take away from us, the GOP has worked hard to steal, and only rarely have they stood their ground to stop that. I have no faith in them whatsoever except to make a mess of things.

I will vote for the occasional individual riding for the brand, but my vote is far from guaranteed.

Save yourself a lot of time and angst by disconnecting from political forums. You’ll find yourself having a lot more free time. Don’t get too discouraged. In practical terms, any individual’s ability to influence political outcomes is not very different from his ability to influence the outcome of any given ball game. Just step away, limit your participation in the political process to voting for the lesser of two evils and spend as little time as possible obsessing over politics. You might end up enjoying life a lot more.

The amusing thing about our current predicament is that the one thing that would revive the GOP is a series of hefty tax hikes. All the liberals who whine about the rich not paying their fair share will end up with sticker shock once they find out that they are “rich” and the “fair share” they were insisting upon somebody else paying is a significant chunk of what they thought was hard-earned cash that belonged to them. Bottom line is that things have to get worse before they get better. Remember the line about people being liberal until they get mugged? That’s what liberals need - a good mugging by the IRS.

Just wait, they'll leave you.

The wait is over they left you long ago, maybe you just haven't noticed, until now.

I think the discussion about a national Third Party should be underway with a campaign to draft prominent authentic conservative outsiders to lead it.

At my state level the primary is closed. I want to stay registered Republican to have the option to vote for an authentic conservative in a GOP Primary.

But I want conservatives to become indies so they can be third party or independent candidates who will face any RINO candidates who make it past a contested primary.

Like may others, I’ve already left.

Rinos have become the Republicans. The conservatives are actually Repiblicans in name only.

Garbage like boner will NOT be my leader.
