"...Al Gore, anti-carbon fuel drum major, made a cool $100 million selling his 20% share in the failing, unwatched Current TV to Arab Al-Jazeera, owned by major carbon fuel producers. (His partner, Joel Hyatt, son-in-law of former Ohio Democratic senator Howard Metzenbaum, also benefited mightily.)...It's hard to conclude that this $500 million Al-Jazeera purchase is anything other than a payoff...in recent weeks, Mr. Gore personally lobbied the distributors that carry Current on the importance of Al Jazeera, according to people briefed on the talks who were not authorized to speak publicly.

So... Al Jazeera was buying the former Vice President's advocacy.....I think it's more than an effort to bring Arab political viewpoints into the U.S. I think it's part of an ongoing effort to keep the U.S. from displacing the Middle East as the major gas producer by propagandizing against hydraulic gas fracturing -- fracking."

"Buying up the almost worthless Current TV at an exorbitant price and securing the advocacy of Al Gore is only part of the Middle East oil producers' efforts to halt our use of shale gas. Other strategic moves including getting celebrities, style setters and opinion makers onboard."

Ole albore made a bundle for himself, it looks like.

I wonder how many “loopholes” he will find to avoid paying taxes on most of his loot?

I did not know that I had Current TV in my home until I looked it up the other day. Comcast carries Current TV, which I didn’t notice since it is a non-HD channel. I am seriously considering changing the way I get TV, but many of the options out there are just as bad. I suppose I could just stop watching TV, but I would go though sports and news withdrawal and would start shaking like a junkie going cold turkey.

Their attack or ignore inconvenient science and debate really is a war on Science. It is similar to the Church going after science in the dark ages.

Is it ironic that the people who think Christians are anti-science because they want a warning or disclaimer put in books that solely promote evolution, are the same people who shut down debate on what really causes climate change and what change is occuring?

We don’t have cable or satellite.

Unless and until the cable/satellite companies offer a la cart channel selection, I will not be a subscriber. There are a handful of channels I would be willing to pay for, but I’m not going to pay for the other 80 or so I have to get that I have no interest in having on my television.

Most of the channels currently offered would die a sudden death of consumers were able to opt out of them.

And Gore isn't even in office -- it's not just elected Demwits who are on the take from OPEC.

Considering the average viewership of Current TV, they wouldn't need to do much in the way of propaganda. It would be more like preaching to the choir.
