Yeah, any clip is good, like the front-back paragraphs excerpted on Market Ticker for the link. Just pick any paragraphs or blocks that suit, and go with them. But really, I think words don’t reach many today. Needs to be images at least. It’s hard to compete with pervasive electronic eye candy on digital devices. If we can only win over the readers, we’re in big, big trouble. Readers are a dying breed.
And the Joan of Arc letter she posted today was awesome. I started doing some research on St. Joan of Arc and her sword. Some say the sword may have once belonged to Charles Martel.
Beren now, he never thought he was going to get that Silmaril from the Iron Crown in Thangorodrim, and yet he did, and that was a worse place and a blacker danger than ours. But thats a long tale, of course, and goes on past the happiness and into grief and beyond it and the Silmaril went on and came to Earendil.
And why, sir, I never thought of that before! Weve got youve got some of the light of it in that star-glass that the Lady gave you! Why, to think of it, were in the same tale still! Its going on. Dont the great tales ever end?~Sam Gamgee
Sorry, couldn’t resist.
Thank you Matt, you are supported by a HUGE fanbase, and we all agree with you.
Matter of fact I may be considering a purchase of a certain boat myself soon.
Probably http://gunfacts.info/ . If not, this is an excellent resource to bookmark.
I have been trying to articulate similar thoughts in a letter to my Congresscritters, but it keeps coming off like something the DHS could use for a poster child. I don't think they are paying attention, or they think we're like the urbane metrosexuals they see in the halls of government, and that misjudgement will lead to bloodshed if they cannot be swayed.
LOL @ Facefarque
Try this: Cut and paste any excerpts of the essay and send them as letters or post them anywhere. In the google era, it all knits together in cyberspace. Pick a section, or clip parts you like. Whatever works.
I knew I had a treasure with that signed “Enemies Foreign and Domestic.” Rather amazing and eerie (to me) how so much has come to pass in the short ten years, with even more treachery in store.
This writing is intense and perfect, IMHO. This oparticular Monday has been very slow here. Let’s keep this BTTT until everyone pinged has had a chance to read and reply.
Thanks very much for your work. It’s truly valued.
Trying to be polite for those not raised in their late teens by Marine DIs. My vocabulary is permanently corrupted, as my wife will attest to.
Law enforcement, whether city, county, state, or federal, will be the pointy end of the spear required for gun confiscation. They need to understand that we are counting on them to do the right thing.
I would even emphasize that law enforcement should be taking steps NOW to prevent the worst case scenarios from playing out.
Unfortunately, these same law enforcement officers here in Kalifornia are failing us. The Heller and McDonald decisions need to be incorporated into law-enforcement training.
The right to keep and bear arms is an individual right. It is not to be infringed by any government, whether federal, state, or local.
We have about 68 pages of gun laws here in Kalifornia. I doubt that even one page worth of those laws is Constitutional. One case which has been awaiting its day in court involves a man who has been arrested TWICE, in two different jurisdictions, for violating the unConstitutional Kalifornia "assault weapons" laws. What is especially telling is that both jurisdictions now agree that the man, in fact, DIDN'T violate these infringing laws.
But where is the outcry from the policeman on the street that he should be relieved of any obligation to enforce these laws? There is none.
Where is the outrage from the Chief Law Enforcement Officers of the various jurisdictions in Kalifornia that their officers are being put in jeopardy by the malingering courts who have permitted this tyranny? There is none.
It does not bode well for the future.
We gotta do what we can to avert an accidental catastrophe.
(Accidental to the utopian bliss ninnies, not the evil actors manipulating them, the same crew that conceived and executed the mass-murderous Operation Fast and Furious.)
You’re a one man power house. You belong on news talk shows, and I predict they will soon be some of your forums.
You look like you saw something scary out there. That’s what I call a good day on the water. Bluebird days are for sissies.
Very well put.
ROTFL. I understand. I hear some salty language around my house from my USNA grad husband.
:)
They won’t touch me with a barge pole. I’m way too far past the PC dangermeter for those drones. But I do what I can. If nothing else, it preserves an historical record of the events leading up to the collision.
I took it here: "Eowyn Fighting Nazgul".
"...I loved that sword, because it was found in the church of St. Catherine, whom I loved."
-- Jehanne of Arc, Trial of Condemnation, February 27, 1431
Eowyn was actually fighting the chief of the Nazgul, the Witch-king of Angmar.
"This fulfilled the prophecy of Glorfindel [an Angel, an Elf], for the Witch-king fell not by 'the hand of man', but by a woman and a hobbit." Mordor and the Dark Lord Sauron are allegorical of hell and satan.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.
St. Catherine broke her boundage.
She refused to marry the emperor and was imprisoned; the evil ruler used a special spiked wheel to torture her into submission, but the wheel broke.
She married Christ, and received a holy ring.
Thanks, Matt. I will.
