Usually we don't celebrate expensive extravagance of our politicians. The realm of the super-rich and the celebrities should not usually cross into the White House. A Republican that spends any sort of money on such items is immediately derided by the press (Sarah Palin, anyone?).
Unless they're a Democrat.
With the country only $16,000,000,000,000 in debt, you would expect many of the country's top politicians and their families to try and give a little back, even if it's just for show. Mike Bloomberg, for all of this stupid policies, works for a dollar, and the like.
The New York Times, however, celebrates Michelle Obama's expensive fashion sense. While the dresses may look good, they pay little solace to the family that can't make ends meet. They don't pay the bills for someone in the coal industry that lost their job in the last four years.
But at least she can be "First in Fashion."

michelle is part of the ruling elite. They make rules for the common herd but don’t follow them. They are protected from the annoying events of daily life, like having to try to find a &^$#(* job and pay the &^#@)& bills.
Also, she and her husband feel they have it coming - reparations from a racist country.
I remember when the same news media had a purple faced spittle flecked fit when Nancy Reagan began taking donations to buy new White House dinnerware.
let them eat cake.
She’s the most expensive welfare queen on the planet.
Where’s the picture of Moochelle with the “Wide Load” sign across her back side?
Barry and Moochelle lecture the peasants to eat their brussels spouts while they jet off (separate jets) for their $7 million, taxpayer funded vacations. And the no-information voter doesn’t seem to care (since they don’t pay taxes).
Imelda had nothing on these grifters.
And her stupid sista’s in the hood eating mac and cheese for dinner adore her because she’s black and she’s gettin over on the man. You go girl! Hey whats for dinner tomorrow? Mac and cheese! Great! we havent had that for a long time. Dey gots nuffin on da pet rock, word!
I don’t have a problem if Michelle Obama spends her OWN money on all the clothes in the world. In the same way, I would not have a problem if First Lady Ann Romney had continued to spend fortunes on the care and training of her Grand Prix-level dressage horse, Rafalca. It’s okay. It doesn’t cost the taxpayers anything and it makes the economy go around.
Nor do I care if Michelle accepts donations or loans of clothes and jewels. Most First Ladies do. It’s okay. It doesn’t cost the taxpayers anything and it makes the economy go around.
I do mind if Michelle disgraces the US by appearing in stupid, vulgar, ugly, bizarre outfits, even if they cost nothing; they make us a laughingstock and degrade our culture. I mind the selfishness that causes Michelle and whatever-his-name-really-is to rub the noses of a struggling, desperate electorate in their unearned wealth. I mind the endless travel and vacations and entertaining, which do cost the taxpayer a tremendous amount of money, and I begin to understand the fury of French peasants in the eighteenth century.
Truly, I am not afflicted by envy and I rejoice in the happiness and prosperity of others, but when the people of this country are crushed with economic problems, the visible contempt of our leaders is like tossing matches at a can of gasoline.
“let them eat cake.”
let them eat fruit cake
Can the First Lady actually accept gifts of clothing? I would think this would be covered under conflict of interest. Clothing is a multi billion dollar business and her husband is in a position to reward companies that give gifts to his family.

I remember somone saying, you can’t polish a turd and it certainly applies in this case no matter how much of other people’s money you spend-—a sasquach is what it is.
Of course Sarah Palin wears anything better than is off the discount shelf at Wal-mart and she is skewered as being a completely horrible person for spending too much money.....
Then if palin wears cheap clothing she is of course derided as being “white trashy”....
Conservatives NEVER WIN ON THIS TOPIC BECAUSE WE SURRENDERED THE WAR ON THE MEDIA BATTLEFIELD......
Of course Moochelle will continue wasting millions o’ bucks....
