Graham: Chuck Hagel an 'In-Your-Face Nomination' for Supporters of Israel

'...out of the mainstream of thinking on most issues regarding foreign policy'

Despite the fact many people see former Republican Chuck Hagel -a man who still considers the heroically-successful Iraq surge a 'foreign policy mistake'- having a poor chance of being confirmed for Defense Secretary -with plenty of Democrats unsupportive as well- you have to wonder what Obama was thinking, presenting such a puzzling nomination- that is, unless you understand the sheer and utter contempt the Obammunist left holds for Israel, the Jewish people, and the Amercian right as well... the foreign-policy front of their wider war on success, Judeo-Christian morality, and competence in-general...

Sen Lindsay Graham:

'I like Chuck Hagel. He served with distinction in Vietnam as an enlisted man -two Purple Hearts- but quite frankly Chuck Hagel is out of the mainstream of thinking on most issues regarding foreign policy,' said Graham in an interview on CNN’s State of the Union...

(Hagel) has long severed his ties with the Republican party. This is an in-your-face nomination of the president to all of us who are supportive of Israel,' he added. 'I don’t know what his management experience is in regards to the Pentagon or global if anyway, so I think it’s an extremely controversial choice.'

Alas, Caroline Glick is afraid Obama might ram this one through...

Many in the American Jewish community are aghast to discover that President Obama is planning to appoint former Senator Chuck Hagel to serve as Defense Secretary. If you want the skinny on how Hagel has come to be known as one of the few ferociously anti-Israel senators in the past generation.....

Obama isn't stupid. He picks fights he thinks he can win. He hasn't always been right about those fights. He picked fights with Netanyahu thinking he could win, and he lost some of those.

But he is right to think he can win the Hagel fight. The Republican Senators aren't going to get into a fight with Obama about his DOD appointee, especially given that it's one of their fellow senators, even though many of them hate him.

The Democrats are certainly not going to oppose him.

Obama wants to hurt Israel. He does not like Israel. He is appointing anti-Israel advisors and cabinet members not despite their anti-Israel positions, but because of them

Some commentators said that Susan Rice would be bad because she was anti-Israel and they hoped that Obama would appoint someone pro-Israel. But John Kerry is no friend of Israel. And as far as I was concerned, we would have been better off with Rice on the job...

Let's hope wiser heads can put the kibosh on this one...

Traditionally, the U.S. supports other democracies.

Traditionally, our Republic was a neutral power that placed the interests of its citizens above fetishes for other nations. In the last 100 years we've accelerated a process of entangling alliances and foreign wars that our Founders warned against. We've accepted the diminishment of liberty at home, and accepted the debt of wars abroad they warned us would follow such a course.

Israel is a democracy, by the way. Should we treat its fascist neighbors who want to destroy it as peers?

"The great rule of conduct for us in regard to foreign nations is in extending our commercial relations, to have with them as little political connection as possible." - GW

We have waged war overtly for over 20 years in the Middle East, most frequently for Israel's 'fascist peers', no less! All at no small expense is lives lost, bodies shattered, and treasure borrowed to burden future generations.

Perpetuating political border divisions that European colonial empires compelled upon the Middle East nearly 100 years ago is colossal folly on our part. It cannot be ended soon enough.

Yes, the United States of America was once a slave to free, peace loving, democracies like ours in the interest of fighting the good fight. Now we have become a slave to despotic, totalitarian regimes bent on the subjugation of free peoples.

The corporate is the same as individual. No one is ever free. We are either a slave to sin or a slave to righteousness. Individually we have chosen sin, now as a nation, we have sided with evil regimes (I.E. Muslim Brotherhood).

Since when do real conservatives not support, tacitly or overtly, free peace-loving democracies?
