The Time to Eradicate Retread Blog Pimps Has Arrived
New York Daily Sun ^ | 14/01/13 | Dick McDonald

Posted on 01/14/2013 8:30:08 AM PST by nyds

Today the people of the United States of America have an opportunity to make the world a better place. Rather than wasting time compromising the political ideologies of progressives and conservatives, Americans could use that time to employ modern economic and scientific advancements to eradicate poverty. The USA could lead the world into a new era where prosperity is the rule rather than the exception.

So the basic idea is to invest each person's 15.3% combined Social Security and Medicare tax into individual accounts.

You ask excellent and totally logical questions, and even the authors idea of privatizing accounts is not a bad one.

The fatal assumption comes when one thinks the government has ANY interest in 'ending poverty'.

My neighbor who is close to my age,and who apparently made about the same annual income now collects disability practically equal to my take-home pay of a 40 hour job.
We both have back problems. He sits ayt home doped on prescribed painkillers in a rented house watching TV and gets help with rent and food as well.

I got a job where my back issues don’t really matter, and mortgage payments.

Which one of us is living the American dream?

All kidding aside.

I have grown to be extra weary whenever I hear people starting their idea with phrases like ‘Today the people of the United States of America have an opportunity to make the world a better place.’

Especially if the proposed ‘remedy’ is not based on individuals’ own decision.

Reagan put us on this path, but it didn’t involve Big Government, so the politicians, bureaucrats, media, and other useful idiots put an end to it.

A vibrant growing economy is the best cure for poverty.
Good economy means businesses will be hiring.
Of course there will always be relative poverty, as 50% will always be below the median income, no matter what you do.
Let people work, let people keep the money they earn, let people enjoy the rewards of their work and those who are still poor will be the people who would be poor in any environment.

he Plan merely returns to the taxpayer the payroll taxes withheld by government and puts those funds into a “USA” a universal savings account owned by the taxpayer which accumulates, compounds and grows into real wealth during a worker’s lifetime.

The flaw is that the government will sooner or later raid or seize the funds for its own wasteful spending.

The Time to Eradicate Poverty Has Arrived

New York Daily Sun ^ | 14/01/13 | Dick McDonald

Typical liberal dumbass stooge! Hey McDonald, LBJ declared a war on poverty in 1964, and stated that poverty would be eradicated in 10 years (1974). How is that war coming along? We now have more people percentage-wise below poverty level than it was in 1964.

These liberals are the epitome of stupidity and wasted programs & policies. We need our own conservative country more than ever!

That idea is so stupid that it just might work. Let's apply some liberal-think:

1. First, we have to define "poor." In the current zeitgeist it seems that the only people who aren't considered poor under any circumstances are millionaires. Ergo, a person with a million dollars cannot be considered likey one of the dreaded "working poor." So a million dollars it is.

2. Next, we instantly cure poverty by sending a check for $1 million to every American American citizen who isn't already a millionaire.

3. It would cost $300 trillion to honor these checks, so we get the mint to coin 300 $1 Trillion dollar coins. We could put LBJ's face on them as a consolation prize for having lost the War on Poverty. Obama can keep them in his bottom desk drawer. That way he can shine them whenever he likes and look at his majestic reflection in them.

Voila! Problem solved!! Next up: providing enough whellbarows so that no American is left without a way to carry enough money when he goes to the grocery store for bread.

So sorry but the “time to eliminate poverty”. Isn’t herte yet. The American public just voted for 4 more years of economic ruin and job losses.

You don’t say much do you?

I dislike that the New York Daily Sun could be confused with several other news papers by people who aren’t paying attention.

I don’t see much Libertarianism in the articles you post. I see arguments for the reasonableness of progressive policies.

You haven’t done any thing wrong and I’m not the posting police, but what is your intent? What do you hope to accomplish publishing these on Free Republic?
