Missouri Lawmakers: Parents will have to notify school of gun ownership in 30 days or face fine

(Derek Wood) - If Missouri lawmakers get their way, parents in the state will have to notify the schools their children go to about their gun ownership within 30 days or face a $100 fine.

Of course it takes one drugged up incompetent person or one irresponsible parent to impose outrageous legislation such as this piece of work, SB 124.

In this legislation you will have to notify the school administrators of the district you wish your child to attend, that you own a gun. Failure to comply, even if your child attends a charter or private school, results in a $100 fine. And, because putting a price on violence always works, if your child does use a gun resulting in injury or death, that you own and failed to notify the school about it, you will face a $1000 fine or other penalties authorized by law.

Lawmakers all across the country see money signs and this absurd legislation is nothing more than people and gun control, with the incentive of making money if someone fails to comply.

How could this be legal? - when did or could schools be used as a vehicle to levy fines on parents? This nonsense should not pass muster!

That isn’t a question. If it was too soon when the book was written, well, “Is it time yet?” That is the question.

This guy: Joseph Keaveny, 4th district, St. Louis.

Just a thought: Since it's such a good idea to post the names and home addresses of gun owners in the media, when do we get to see the same information for the gun grabbers?

“...you will have to notify the school administrators of the district you wish your child to attend, that you own a gun.”

I always wondered why they call Missouri the “show me” state!

Tell them to speak to your lawyer and then give them a business card with a sex chat line number.

Because stupid questions deserve equally stupid answers.

Are you... fed up with the Powers That Be encroaching on your freedom?

Have you... tried everything -- voting, peaceful protest, letter writing, petitions--and found that it just didn't work?

Are you... beginning to think violent rebellion might be the ultimate, dreaded answer?

Hope this helps.

When I read this, I profiled the possibility of what kind of person would propose such a law. A black female liberal Democrat would be most likely and when I looked her up I was right. Its getting too easy these days to identify the enemy.

The best response to this by Republican Missouri legislators would be to pass a bill that goes in the opposite direction.

Some possibles:

1) Prohibit “zero tolerance” policies in the schools that are irrational, and that teachers and administrators may only discipline based on actual, rather than imaginary, threats. Police may be summoned only when there is serious injury or damage to school and/or personal property, or when an “actual and tangible” threat has been made.

2) Authorize county Sheriffs to declare that “any or all adult persons of good character” may at their Sheriffs’ discretion be officially listed as part of the county militia, of which he is head; and thus, may be required (ala Kennesaw, GA) to be armed with a firearm and ammunition of a type that the Sheriff may designate (or not), as “deputy law enforcement auxiliaries”, exempt from federal weapons limitations.

3) A bill that Doctors cannot refuse service based on a patient’s unwillingness to discuss their gun ownership, even if the Doctor is compelled by law or ‘ethics’ to ask.

4) Tax abatement to gun and ammunition manufacturers willing to produce guns and ammunition from exclusively in state suppliers, and whose guns and ammunition are solely for use within the state.

5) The creation of urban and rural public gun ranges for both general public use and the use of high school and Scout individual and team rifle practice; and the encouragement of public and private schools to create such teams.

What about home schoolers? Do they have to look in the mirror and ‘confess’?

“Yes, I agree it won’t go anywhere. But apparently, 20 years of pent-up frustration on gun control has exploded into sheer lunacy.”

This is EXACTLY what the Dems feared after the shooting.

For decades, the Republicans have said that the Dems are after guns. Pelosi knew that, and very carefully made sure that guns were NEVER an issue when she ran the House. Doing so, worked, it defused, or actually ELIMINATED debate on the subject, and gun-owners that lean Democrat went back home - and we got Obamacare.

Now what? It’s back in the news, and the conservatives, again, will be proved right on the issue. The Dems do want our guns, and some of the stuff being talked about simply PROVES it...and again will shift the voting to the right. And the Dems know it, better even than the Republicans.

Attach a $100 check made out to the “Head School District A-hole”.

Eff that. Attach a 100$ I.O.U and a note that says 'Come and Take it'.

The appropriate response is to simply state “You must provide me with all disciplinary records for all school district employees so I can ascertain how many of you have been caught molesting the children in your charge. I will also need current address and contact numbers for all district employees in case they are discovered to be child molesting pedophiles.”

When they recoil in shock and begin blustering about you not needing that information, tell them the only information you need from them now is the name and contact information for the local parochial schools.

I wonder how many of those busy-bodies have child porn on their computers at home? Would they agree to snap inspections to prove they don’t?

In my day we took our guns to school so that we could go hunting after the school day ended. The prindipal would want us to show it to him and then tell him all about it. Heck, that was just in the 80’s...
