Redondo Beach man, shot at by police in Chris Dorner manhunt, calls Torrance officers 'reckless'
The Inland Valley Daily Bulletin ^ | February 11, 2013 | Sandy Mazza

One of three victims in police attacks meant for fugitive Christopher Dorner is speaking out through his attorney, who calls Torrance police officers "violent and reckless" for shooting at and detaining him.

After all, David Perdue is a thin white man who looks nothing like Dorner. And he was questioned and released by officers just moments before another officer slammed a patrol car into his truck and fired shots at him.

Perdue left his Redondo Beach home and was driving through Torrance to the beach for some early morning surfing on Thursday when he was stopped. Officers guarding the home of a law enforcement official targeted by Dorner questioned him because his Honda Ridgeline pickup truck resembled the vehicle investigators believed Dorner was driving.

Seconds after he drove away, Perdue's truck was broadsided by a Torrance police car at the corner of Flagler Land and Beryl Street, said his attorney Robert Sheahen.

"These lunatics broadsided the side of his truck, spun him around and started shooting at him," Sheahen said...

Ramming a vehicle and shooting at it before determining if it is the suspect's vehicle is reckless beyond belief.

They should be charged and convicted of attempted murder.

I had a long conversation with a workmate that was an ex-cop and his father is still a sheriff. I asked him about my theory about the type of people that become cops. He said it was pretty accurate and amplified thusly:

About a quarter of them are the “donut shop” cops. They want to avoid work and may see you run a stop sign righ in front of them but won’t pull you over because it’s a lot of work.

About a quarter are the true blue “protect and serve” guys that really want to make a difference.

The other half are either just plain brown shirts on a power trip or the high school jocks that couldn’t find anything else and end up similar to the brown shirts.

That’s why I’m always polite. You never know when you are being pulled over by the bad 50%.

“Torrance Police Department released a statement explaining that Perdue’s truck was “suddenly leaving the area” and seemingly veering into a patrol car when the two vehicles collided at 5:15 a.m.

“In the split seconds available to them the action was appropriate to intervene and stop the actions of

the driver of that vehicle,” a Torrance police statement reads. The department also offered to pay Perdue’s medical bills and rental car expenses.”

Now I assume the tapes on your vehicles will prove he was “suddenly” leaving the area???? Is that now against the law?

Is the sanction now the death penalty for leaving an area?

Hell, if I thought Dorner was in the area, I’d leave but, I should forfiet my life? For doing exactly what?

Oh? You made a mistake, as evidence by your sudden ability to sign off on his medical bills, which could be extensive and paying for his rental, presumably while his car is being fixed?

I would think, his insurance covers the cost of a rental. Perhaps, you’d let him rent a Ferrari for a few years?

Where is your sanction for “attempted murder”, “malicious mayhem”, “violation of civil rights under color of law”, etc, etc, etc????

You guys are above the law and a perfect example arrogance.

Society needs to armed to fend off your tyranny and “accidental/misjudgement in depriving me of my life, my liberty and my pursuit of happiness”,for which you have infringed upon at least two and nearly ended all three of my supreme rights, with no recourse for me or my family.

Your split second decision/judgement is going to get someone killed and demonstrates a complete disregard for innocent human life, a callous disregard for your fellow Americans and absolute absenteeism of discipline.

You are vigilantes with badges and you should be removed from the force. You are a disease with no conscience.

It appears that all the police departments want him dead before he can spill any beans. Just amazing that there have been 2 separate incidents where the police have initiated with lethal force and attempted to kill folks without making any effort to obtain positive ID.
Do we know how many shots were fired in the 2 incidents?

Oh no, the police are trained professionals. Not like you and I. We should not be allowed to have guns because we’re stupid and will just hurt ourselves or somebody else. These guys go through super special training so they don’t make mistakes like you and I would. /s

Jeez, what’s with these guys? In all these mistaken ID Keystone Cop incidents that are happening I keep imagining one guy yelling “IT’S HIM!” and then, POP POP POP POP POP POP, everybody panic fires without even thinking. What kind of person shoots without even knowing what he’s aiming at? I’m guessing the kind who’s come to believe he has special dispensation to ignore the rules of firearms because he’s not like everyone else. “That ‘making sure of your target’ stuff is for noobs and babies. We know what we’re doing.”

Most likely they smelled a dog or some donuts wafting out an open window. These aren’t the same cops/force that beat a helpless homeless person to death while the guy was crying out for help? Wuzzit??

Any settlement money should come out of the cops’ pension fund. That might make them think a bit before doing stupid stuff.

These are the same type of inept and inobservant liars who get the benefit of the doubt over you in traffic court.

If I hadn’t seen the word “Dorner” in the headline, I’d have sworn that this article involved a law enforcement agency somewhere in Florida.

This incident sounds like the very kind of thing they’d easily do.

A new truck does not compensate a 71 year old woman shot twice in the back. These injuries will likely shorten her life.

I'm getting damn sick of the city, ie. taxpayers, ie. me, having to pay for irresponsible, illegal acts of its employees.

The shooters should be jailed & their property sold to pay this woman.

Do we know how many shots were fired in the 2 incidents?

I can see 32 shots in the back of the newspaper women's truck. And that doesn't count the misses!

Now we know why the government is buying billions of bullets. If they are going to expend 50+ shots for every traffic stop, they are going to running through a lot of ammo!

lookls NOTHING like a Nissan Titan.

Why are they looking for 'what looks like' - when they ALREADY said they found his Nissan Titan left deserted because of a broken axle?

Does this remind you of how 'we the people' are treated since 9/11? In airports is just one example. Create hysteria - it is all for the greater good.

The Honda evokes a Subaru Brat look of the 1980’s and the one driven by the man nearly murdered was black, not gray as the one Dorner was described as driving.

Now, I’m color blind to the point I can’t get a driver’s license but, even I can tell the difference between Black and gray....Charcoal grey....”Fletch”
