Did this photograph spark a police action that tried to enter a New Jersey home without a warrant? Thats the story being told on a website dedicated to Open Carry in the state of Delaware. The title of the story, The fight has officially been brought to my front door.

The young man in the photo is the 11-yr-old son of Shawn Moore. The gun is a .22 rifle, a copy of the AR-15, but a 22 caliber. The photo was posted on Facebook by a proud father. That Facebook posting apparently triggered an anonymous call to New Jerseys Department of Youth and Family Services (DYFS). On Friday night, March 15th, two representatives from the states social services office (along with four local police officers) came to the Moore home and demanded to see the familys firearms.
According to Moores lawyer, Evan Nappen (an attorney with considerable expertise in NJs very strict gun laws), the situation was outrageous.(continued)

Where was that at, 2ndDV?
New Joisee.
it was not uncommon in many rural parts of the country for children to walk to school with rifles or shotguns. not to protect them from people, generally, but from bear and mountain lion
they would be stored in the back of the one room school houses
Actually, it was never IN style. Surrender is much more stylish; the French are very stylish for example. But that's OK -- the kind of people who fight tyranny don't give a rat's ass about whether or not they're stylish.
At least the French are fighting the Islamo-Scum in Mali.

Wonder who the narc was? If Mr. Moore finds out, I’d be defriending the clown and/or blocking him or her from my FB account.
Seriously, I see nothing remotely scary or “unsafe home” about the picture. If the boy had been holding the weapon in an obviously unsafe manner that could have posed immediate harm to himself or others - like say, pointing it at himself as a practical joke, or something - then maybe I would agree that a visit from the authorities would have been in order. As it is, all I see is a ridiculous overreaction by the NJ child protective services department.

I think that’s why the “over reaction” occurred. This guy and his family are the “Old Normal” they don’t belong in the world of the “New Normal” where the state is supreme in all matters especially the raising, (or non-raising as it may be), of your own children.
