The executive director of Colorados department of corrections was shot dead by an unknown gunman at his home Tuesday night, apparently when he answered a ring at his front door, authorities said.
Why the director, Tom Clements, was shot and by whom was not clear.
The initial information was the doorbell had rung and when Mr. Clements answered the door he was shot, El Paso County Sheriff's Department spokesman Lt. Jeff Kramer said. Investigators were working to confirm that information.
No one else in the house was injured.
A call was received by the sheriffs office at 8:37 p.m. local time Tuesday from Clements wife at his home in the town of Monument, Kramer said. Deputies responded and confirmed that a deceased male, later identified as Clements, was on scene. The 58-year-old man was not transported to a hospital, Kramer said......

Muslims.
Maybe one of those “non violent” former detainees...
We had one of these in our neighborhood years ago ~ the woman developed this irresistable obsession ~ the papers were full of discussions (pre internet) on the phenomenon.
That's another one no degree of background checks or mental health exams will ever be able to ferret out before disaster strikes.
Political hit.
Pressure rising.
Muslims
I heard on the radio it was Saudis because they would not release a Saudi with a life sentence.
Impossible! Colorado is now a “common-sense, reasonable” gun control state.
IT CAN’T HAPPEN HERE!!! ISLAM IS A ROP!!!!!
Welcome to reality America.

..... his killing comes a week after Clements denied a Saudi national prisoner’s request to be sent to his home country to serve out his sentence. Homaidan al-Turki was convicted of sexually assaulting a housekeeper and keeping her as a virtual slave.
I ALWAYS answer my door with my .44 in my hand (behind me out of sight)..... just sayin’
As usual you have to go to the UK papers to get the real story...
“The corrections department chief cited al-Turki’s refusal to undergo treatment in his denial.
‘After a thorough review and careful consideration of all information provided to me in this matter, I have decided not to support your request for transfer to Saudi Arabia at this time,’ Clements wrote in his letter to al-Turki.
Al-Turki, a well-known member of Denver’s Muslim community, was convicted in state court in 2006 of unlawful sexual contact by use of force, theft and extortion and sentenced to 28 years to life in prison.
...
Al-Turki insisted the case was politically motivated. He owned a company that some years ago sold The Lives of the Prophets CDs, a series of incendiary sermons recorded by Anwar al-Awlaki, killed in a drone strike in Yemen in 2011.
...
Al-Turki’s conviction angered Saudi officials and prompted the US State Department to send Colorado Attorney General John Suthers to Saudi Arabia to meet with King Abdullah, Crown Prince Sultan and al-Turki’s family.

I really don’t want to belittle this tragedy .... but the first thing that came to my mind after reading this was The Sopranos episode where Tony brought in hit men from Italy and they mistakenly shot somebody that looked like the mobster from NYC. ( I apologize to anyone that takes offense at this. It just reads like something from a TV series.)
Tonight, NBC News somberly informed that “the people of Colorado are mourning the loss of their director of prisons.”
WTF!?! Not one person in 100,000 in Colorado could have correctly named the Director of Prisons for Colorado before today.
Agenda??? What agenda????

So that is where Cassius Clay came up with rope a dope.
I wish people wouldn't put false news articles on here.
Since he had to do with prisons, he probably had a gun in his house, so he accidentally shot himself. He was probably violating a law to have a gun, so he was at fault.
Texas says I can have as many guns as I want with as many 10-500 cartridge magazines as I want. Texas is full of guns/ammo/magazines - someone should write a strict gun law for this state.
Satire, satire, satire, satire. Leave my freaking guns/ammo/magazines alone. Colorado is, I think, a lost cause.
I live alone and our small group of townhouses has a gate so cars aren't coming in unless they live here. During the day, I leave the metal door open with the locked glass door in front of that. I do that so my Yorkie, Prissy, can see outside and if anyone/anything moves as far as she can see, she has a barking fit and runs to tell me. I just turn my head and can see whatever she just saw and have plenty of time to react.
Today, she started having a fit and ran to me, so I went to the front door. A firetruck and ambulance had quietly come in and parked in the street two doors down from me. I never would have known they were in here if she hadn't alerted me.
When it gets dark, I lock my door and put the heavy duty Buddybar under the knob and it can't be kicked open. If the doorbell rings after dark, I don't go to the door. My safety is more important than whatever someone out there wants.
