This sort of shooting is all too often a female co-worker or employee who has been seeking companionship but was rebuffed by the guy she shoots.

We had one of these in our neighborhood years ago ~ the woman developed this irresistable obsession ~ the papers were full of discussions (pre internet) on the phenomenon.

That's another one no degree of background checks or mental health exams will ever be able to ferret out before disaster strikes.

I really don’t want to belittle this tragedy .... but the first thing that came to my mind after reading this was The Sopranos episode where Tony brought in hit men from Italy and they mistakenly shot somebody that looked like the mobster from NYC. ( I apologize to anyone that takes offense at this. It just reads like something from a TV series.)
