Rhode Island has the highest unemployment rate in the country, its crushed by unsustainable public sector salaries and pensions which are protected by union control of the legislature and politicians at every level, it is one of only two states losing population and may lose one of its two congressional seats in the 2020 census if trends continue.
Yet Rhode Islanders continually vote Democratic, even reelecting to Congress the disgraced David Cicilline in 2012 when even the liberal Providence Journal turned on him.
The Democrat-union grip on the state never has been tighter, and Rhode Island never has suffered more, as this WaPo article demonstrates, Food stamps put Rhode Island town on monthly boom-and-bust cycle:
The economy of Woonsocket was about to stir to life. Delivery trucks were moving down river roads, and stores were extending their hours. At precisely one second after midnight, on March 1, Woonsocket would experience its monthly financial windfall nearly $2 million from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as food stamps. That’s what those 70 million firearms bought since 2008 are for, I reckon.
Proof that liberalism doesn’t work and that it thrives by making people dependent on it.
There are “help wanted” signs everywhere here. If my health were back to what it was I could easily find work.

Our government’s concern for the psychological well being of the dependent class has reached the point where its members do not have to grovel and beg. They receive prepaid cards for food and expenses so they do not have to be embarrassed by using food stamps. Checks come in the mail or are automatically deposited. No effort at all is required other than signing up for the benefits.
Democ-RATS don’t get ‘re-elected’, they just forge sufficient vote points to return to their festering nests. I couldn’t get past the statement that the folks up there ‘re-elected’ Cicilline.
