If as has been widely suggested, CPAC 2013 marked a paradigm change, a generational change, a new direction of conservatism, it is possible to speculate that someone who fits the new paradigm could be president in 2016. Among them: Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Sarah Palin, all of whom starred at the Conservative Political Action Conference. For any one of these, the perfect choice for vice president should be David Petraeus.
Patraeus always wanted to be president. He still does. His admission to an extramarital affair was timed to the wire to get it out of the way to publicly atone and honor his wife and to enter again the path.
There is no more common foible for a man his age. It happens. But Petraeus is a man of dignity and honor. And Petraeus, along with former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, were the significant leaders who intervened and retrieved the countrys karma when we had skidded entirely into the rocks.
It had been a long time coming. The Army under Tommy Franks was a mess for a long time. There hadnt been a real fight in a long time. When the snob colleges in the Northeast dropped ROTC, it made for a largely Southern Baptist officer corps a regional army and as others have suggested, most soldiers today are largely from the red, heartland states....

I know I haven’t forgotten.
He doesn’t need to run again.
Say what you will about Perry, he will always outshine you.
He looks like about half of my senior NCOs. If I didn’t know who he was I’d swear he’s some SFC from Oklahoma or Missouri.
I’m not saying I support Paul at this point - - I need a lot more info - - I’m just making a prediction. If he makes sense on handling the illegal alien hordes in a way that deprives the scumbag rats from getting their votes, eg., ID-ing them and making them “get in line” along with other applicants for a shot at citizenship 25 years down the road, and then coupling such a program with mandatory tough voter ID laws, then he may have a shot. It looks right now like he has a lot of support, generally speaking.
I see a pattern.
After we gutted everybody, we got left with the milktoast.
Then we threw a hissy fit and stayed home so Obama could get all smarmy and kick us in the balls.
Perry’s a loser and only the weakest of minds (yours) don’t see it.
Yeah, he is a loser, that is why he has been Gov of the most prosperous state in the nation for 12 years.
Nice personal attack.
lol! Again your weak mind has betrayed you. We’re talking about the national stage here chief. If that’s beyond your limited comprehension have someone who gives a damn explain it to you.
I was just pointing out what a loser Perry is when you made it personal with your post #22. I responded in kind. You want to talk about me I’ll talk about you. I’d prefer to keep it about Perry, the subject of this thread.
Of course he’ll outshine me, with all that Dapper Dan pomade in his hair. When is Texas gonna finally dump La Raza Rick and get a real Governor who is a Conservative ? Nobody needs to be Governor for 14 years straight. Nobody.
Agreed
I understand the national stage very well and that is why I am not a politician.
Perry may not have the right stuff to placate the rabid disparate masses on a national level but he is the real deal.
You treat him like the left treats Palin.
When was the last time Tennessee kicked the libs in DC in the balls?
The national stage doesn’t matter. Rick was never going to be the guy. Romney was shoved down our throats. They seized on his gaffs, but ignored multiple gaffs from Romney and Obama.
Ultimately, Rick Perry froze briefly and left every voter in America with that uncomfortable,”I showed up to school and forgot my speech” feeling.
Had that been Obama or the stalking horse Romney, they would have simply cut away or had one of the moderators take over the answering of the question like they did during the presidential debates.
Perry is the subject of the thread and your personal obsession.
Save the venom for Obama.
You a politician? lol! Ummm...yeah. You made the right choice there.
Perry may not have the right stuff to placate the rabid disparate masses on a national level but he is the real deal.
One need not be rabid to reject a clear loser. And that's why conservative voters all across this nation did.
You treat him like the left treats Palin.
I treat him like a man who panders to the ILLEGAL alien populaiton deserves to be treated. You, however, treat him like the left treats Obama.
Even a Conservative would curdle in such a job after that long... and he still intends to run again in 2014... which would take him to 2019... and he’s been Governor since 2000 ! He should’ve been retired in 2006. He is the poster boy for statewide term limits in Texas.
No obsession, just an interest in seeing the loser rejected for the loser that he clearly is.
Election Day 2000. We kept Gore out of the Presidency.
