Sweden really is annoying.
We've made both Germany and Russia look like fools on battle fields.
We haven't experienced war for two centuries by now, but we're prepared for the next one.
We once were poor, but today, we enjoy a standard of living that clearly is better than that of the average American or any other country on Earth for that sake.
Few Americans could afford a car like the Volvo V70 (best selling car in Sweden) and only a small percentage of the American population own second homes (very common in Sweden).
Furthermore, my Sweden is more technologically advanced in all areas of society compared to nations who wish to compete with us.
This clip could give you some sort of idea of what I'm on about.
“Guess youve never been to Scandinavia..”
Don’t lump all Scandinavia with that sewer Sweden!
But doesn’t Sweden have immigration camps for asylum seekers?
Can you imagine the uproar now if we did that in the U.S.A.
(And I”ve been to Scandinavia, including Sweden)
.
“Thats not fair because the owner of H&M didnt have the advantage of East German slave labor to help him along the way like IKEA did.”
- I sincerely apologize. I wasn’t aware IKEA and H&M didn’t count as real companies.
I ran into quite a few businesses there that only took cash. And many places/services offering two tiers of prices (on the DL ofcourse) black price and white price. Cash is alive and well in Sweden.
Actually, thats the first thing that came to mind when I read about Sweden's cashless society. Since we're not far behind on that score I think the concern applies to us as well.
One of the keys to freedom, I'm starting to believe, is financial privacy. Since thats technically illegal already, I believe, I think we passed a waypoint a long time ago.
I agree there is a problem down in Malmö, but show me an American city that looks as neat as Malmö:
It is not our cities that are decaying..
We are rich. You pretend to be, but are in severe debt.
So you avoided my question. Why would you do that? While I love Scandanavia, I did ask you a simple question.
Ironic. I was just looking at a 2008 XC90. Too bad we don’t need an SUV anymore.
Our woes are self-inflicted. Once the majority figure out they can vote themselves free beer, its a fast ride to the bottom.
I stand corrected!
I sure wish you’d get off the fence, Dale, and tell us what you think.
“It is not our cities that are decaying.”
I agree. Although I doubt that you realize just what it is I’m agreeing with here.
They’re nice cars and even nicer when you give up trying to keep them stock. For us living in Wyoming it’s really impractical to depend on Volvo parts so when the engine died in ours it just made sense to install a new (crate) 390. It was also several thousand dollars cheaper than the Volvo engine would have been since we did the install ourselves.
I never liked Ford buying Volvo and thought Ford buying Jaguar was a good deal. I liked the Ford/Jaguar X-type, but I was apparently the only one that did. But most everyone likes the Ford influence at Volvo, and I’d like to get an S60 R-Design with the Polestar tuning.
Of course, it does -- all countries do
Why this stupid food fight with WesternCulture?
The post was about Sweden's decreasing use of cash. That's interesting and we could have a healthy discussion about whether that's good or not. But instead we try to prove that we're superior to Sweden.
Gosh, that's dumb.
Cash = privacy, but to each his own.
“Tell me this. What is the max income a citizen is allowed to earn in Sweden, before the govey takes the rest?”
- There is no maximum income in Sweden.
In the US, the government has set a minimum income.
In Sweden, there’s no such thing.

A cursory review of the apparently drunk-posted America bashing in the posting history of the individual in question might provide an answer.
