Congressional inquiry into the Department of Homeland Securitys huge ammunition acquisitions spurred agency officials to try to explain what is going on. At current inventory levels, DHS has four to five times as many bullets for its officers as the US Army has for our troops.
DHS training officer Humberto Medina pointed out that the Army faces known enemies in numbers far smaller than we have to consider. I mean, Afghanistans population is tiny compared to that of the United States. And the Army can supplement with aerial and artillery bombardment. We dont have that capacity at this time.
Medina also suggested that Army troops are better trained and more accurate shooters than the majority of those weve recruited for Homeland Security. So it stands to reason that wed need to fire more rounds to hit any given target, whether it be in a training exercise or, heaven forbid, suppressing an insurrection. In a nation with over 300 million potential enemies an inventory of billions of bullets doesnt seem unreasonable to me.
Nick Nayak, DHS chief procurement officer, offered an alternative explanation for the recent surge in ammo purchases. The notion that we are specifically targeting civilians is overwrought, he said. People dont understand the way federal budgeting works. If we end the year with unspent funds that money is lost to us. Our surplus would then be used by the Administrations enemies to argue for reduced spending in the next budget cycle. In that context, buying a billion bullets that we may never use seemed to be our best option.

I will believe until proven otherwise that the purpose of such huge government ammo supplies is to set up a government store so that when private ammo purchases by civilians are curtailed in some manner people will have to buy from the government store. Of course when a person buys from a government store they will have to give their name etc. Call it backhanded information about any and many otherwise unknown gun owners. I recall the government liqueur stores during prohibition.
Whoops, started prepping a response without checking the source.
Bad Freeper.....no donut!
Uh......it was satire, right??!!??
KYPD
He unintentionally but clearly admitted that the proposed target is the population of the United States. If he is taken out tomorrow, it would only be an act of self-defense.
Crissake John, don't give the bassturds any ideas they do not already have!
OOOOHHH! Semmens got me again!

At ease soldier, it’s satire. I must admit though I didn’t realize it myself until I read this sentence, “In a nation with over 300 million potential enemies an inventory of billions of bullets doesnt seem unreasonable to me.
I was so shocked someone would actually say something like that, on the record, that I rechecked the source. If I hadn’t, or the pranksters had not included that line, I may have bought it hook line and sinker.
I know what you mean. I didn’t realize i, either, til I got a couple paragraphs in, and then I though, “Hmm. Waitaminnit. Check the top of the thread again....!

So if I understand this guy, he and the DHS consider all Americans to be potential hostiles? And what is with the we don’t have the capacity for aerial bombardment, YET? There need to be a large number of terminations At the DHS starting at the top!
Dammit. It took me til the 2nd paragraph to realize that this was satire.
I’m losing my touch...
