CO: Open Act of Defiance: Magazine Swap at the Capitol
co-ironwill.blogspot.com ^ | 15 June, 2013 | Resister in the Rockies

Please help spread the message.

At Midnight on July 1st, 2013, the unenforceable and unconstitutional Colorado ban on magazines that hold more than 15 rounds, a number that was arbitrarily chosen with no logical reason, goes into effect. This 'law' is so bad, that sheriffs from 54 of Colorado’s 64 counties are suing to have it overturned.

In defiance of this law, which is repugnant to the Constitution and therefor null and void, we as free Citizens of Colorado and of the united States of America, will join together to freely trade, buy and swap "high-capacity" firearm magazines in front of the State Capitol. We will be joined by other freedom loving Patriots from other States who come to lend their support.

Please join us in this act of civil disobedience and to send the freedom-hating legislatures a message.

"We beg no longer; we entreat no more; we petition no more. We defy them!" - William Jennings Bryan, 1896

According to a post on that org’s Facebook pg, 21-round capacity mags are legal in Denver, but 15-round or under mags are legal in the state. How does that work? Do municipalities’ laws take precedence over the state’s laws? Just wondering.

“Denver Ordinance Sec. 38-130. - Assault Weapons.
(b)(1) Assault weapon shall include all firearms with any of the following characteristics:
d. Any firearm which has been modified to be operable as an assault weapon as defined herein.
e. Any part or combination of parts designed or intended to convert a firearm into an assault weapon, including a detachable magazine with a capacity of twenty-one (21) or more rounds, or any combination of parts from which an assault weapon may be readily assembled if those parts are in the possession or under the control of the same person.”

Bring a few stingers for the drones. (No, not the ones working in the Capital building...though the idea is also tempting.)

30 round magazines are STANDARD CAPACITY.

We need to start setting the language of the debate. The Left almost always sets the language and therefore we are always starting our fight from a disadvantage.

Stop this “high capacity” garbage.

Wouldn't waiting for midnight July 4th have been more dramatic?

The first effective day of the new law is pretty dramatic, and 7/4 is a holiday so it would be more difficult to get the press and participants.

“Stop this ‘high capacity’ garbage.”

I’m with you.

This “high capacity” crap really ticks me off.

It’s just another liberal catch phrase, like “assault weapon” and “gun violence.”

As far as the left is concerned, Americans cannot
be trusted with these high capacity lead delivery systems.

Once the law is in effect, could someone incorporate a permanent choke so that a standard magazine could only hold, say, 14 rounds, but would look identical to a standard magazine on the outside?

The law states that if it can have more than the certain number of rounds, or is “readily convertible” for more rounds, then it is illegal. But a permanent choke in a single magazine creates a problem for the authorities, if the only way to tell is by disassembling the magazine.

Importantly, the gun grabbers are very appearance oriented, such as with “assault rifles”, but there is nothing in the law that requires standard or choked magazines to be identified as such. This means that to search your magazine is difficult, because there is no probable cause to suggest it is *not* choked if you say it is.

If you have a removable bottom plate on your magazine, it’s considered, “Readily convertible.”

And thus, illegal.

Okay, change in plan. Producing new magazines that are just 15 rounds, and do not have a removable base plate. And if that flies, then making magazines without removable base plates that look like they could hold more than 15 but can’t.

Again, to annoy them with legal function but “illegal looking”.

Your list is far too small — it doesn’t even have FedGov agencies.

This is not law. These are un-Constitutional edicts infringing on 2nd Amendment. To be defied ridiculed and ignore soon enough by an armed populace. Then let the tyrants make the first move on bloodshed.
