Whatever happened to that “avoid foreign entanglements” advice?

This has been debunked on a number of shipping/naval forums. Here's the crux:

It wasn't heading to the Middle East. It was heading TO Singapore, FROM the Middle East (reference here

The ship didn't sink. It split in half from the keel up, but both pieces retained water-tight integrity and salvage operations are underway.

The ship was apparently built with a new type of high-strength steel. Speculation is that the steel was especially rigid for an aircraft-carrier sized vessel with a relatively high center of gravity but still built to commercial and not military standards (especially when it comes to compartmentalization). The ship hit heavy weather and wasn't able to flex properly given the waves it was encountering, so the hull failed (thankfully along a bulkhead)

Must have been some loose lips out there. Seriously though I still think it was the center fuel tank.

Next shipment, let’s include the 1.6 billion rounds of hollow point ammo the Feds bought. It was for the WOT, so I’m sure it was to be used against Muslims.

I don’t think weapons were being transported this way. This would not be the way the US would send weapons anywhere.

I wish this were true, but I suspect it’s not. Hard to imagine we would be shipping arms from Mumbai, and that we would allow a ship loaded with weapons to be unescorted (or allow anyone to get close enough to take pictures like these).

This vessel was loaded in Saudi Arabia and bound for Singapore when it split apart off Mumbai on Monday June 17. I highly doubt that there was any relation to Syrian rebels and / or the arms being shipped to them.
