Is Homosexuality a Choice?
Patriot Politics ^ | June 28 2013 | Patriot Politics

"You can't say gay couples shouldn't be married, after all, they are born that way." is one of the most common arguments for gay "marriage." The idea is if the public is convinced that homosexuality is innate and not a choice, then the public as a whole will become more accepting of homosexuality and gay marriage. However, this argument has no scientific support and indeed, neurology may provide an explanation of how homosexuality is indeed a choice.

You know that pic reminds me of a theory I used to have about gay people when i was younger; that they were so strange or ugly that they couldnt get anyone to go out with them so they turned to their own. There may be a ring of truth in there somewhere after seeing that pic...

I think there is a huge ring of truth to that.

Does it matter if its a natural urge?

When I was 25, I had these natural urges to nail every chick that walked by. What I did instead was remain faithful to my wife and to supress even fantasizing about those natural urges. That was a choice.

I don't believe it's a choice. I think it's a birth defect.

Nature is heterosexual because there are TWO sexes. If nature just wanted to have one sex there would only be one sex. Just think about why there are two sexes.

Hmmm- never thought I’d be in favor of abortion- but you make a mighty strong case for it

I think it's a choice, but I also believe that it's rooted in the individuals psychology, male or female.

Not a expert but I don't think that means that they are born that way, anymore than a person is born with manic depression or bipolar as they call it today....studied this back when I was in college..but that was 45 years ago...I have never seen or read anything to change my assessment on it.

They’re not born that way, but years of sexual abuse, usually by someone they know and care for, makes it very hard for them to give homosexuality up. They feel like they were born that way.

Homosexual marriage has nothing to do with love or equality. Homosexuals already have more rights than the rest of us. It’s a way to get into public schools and influence other people’s children for their own pleasure.

I was about to say something similar. I had an alcoholic father, and neither I nor any of my four siblings are.
It is not genetic.

“They’re born that way” is a non sequiur that flows from the other truism, “They can’t be changed.” I’ll suggest an explanation, maybe right, maybe wrong.

Years of solid studies with identical twins show that the inherited component of homosexuality is far less than the inherited component of propensity to become addicted to opiates. In either case, it’s a small component.

An addict “cannot be changed,” in the sense that the latent desire for the fix is there forever. I never really was deeply addicted to nicotine, but 40 years later, out of nowhere the desire pops up. It is not reasonable to think that homosexual desire can be “cured.”

And, again, the evidence that they are “born that way” just isn’t there.

If you give any credence to this line of reasoning, then “gay marriage” is the equivalent of the socialist answer to heroin addiction, namely allowing the addicts to hang out and get their fixes together under respectable conditions. Since the desire can’t be cured, the behavior must be considered, effectively, normal.

for the most part, yes IMO. There are cetrainly biological anomalies out there too; however, the fact is, taboo prohibitions exist for a reason and that reason is typically related to an underlying ambivalence.

Well, are you arguing that they are born that way but can’t be themselves, that they have to repress it? Pretty tough argument to make. You’d be on stronger ground if you considered it a choice.

So was having an outlet of sex in marriage. You did not choose celibacy.

As the article states, there is absolutely no proof whatsoever that faggotism is anything other than a vile, disgusting, immoral, disease-spreading and destructive lifestyle choice. But let's play devil's advocate for a second. Alcoholism is said to be genetic, obesity is said to be genetic, cancer has been proven to be genetic, and so on. Lots of things are genetic; that's doesn't mean they're good, or desirable, or in the case of behavior disorders like alcoholism, even excusable. So -- even if faggotism was shown to be genetic, that doesn't mean it's okay. It would still be vile, disgusting, immoral, disease-spreading and destructive.

"Pretty sure gays are born gay.

Because no man is going to *decide* to look at another man’s hairy butt and say “Man, I want that.”

Hogwash. Pop culture has been promoting faggotism for so long, it's cool to be a pole smoker these days. People have been making very bad decisions throughout human history...faggotism is just another in a long string of very bad decisions.

Well ..... You’ve got a thread with close to 60 replies now (probably more by the time I type this) and over half of them addressed to you.

You have yet to respond to even one.

Guess you’re just here for the hits, eh?
