Another reason for Russians to abandon their worship in memory of the Georgian psychopath, Stalin. He basically started all this by exiling the Chechens en masse to Siberia and other parts east beyond the Urals in 1944 for supposed collaboration with the German invaders. Of course he did the same with individual Red Army soldiers who had the misfortune of being captured by the Germans and surviving the war. The Chechens that survived were allowed to return to their homeland in the 1950’s (mistake no. 2, but that one was Kruschev’s).

In fact Chechens has really collaborated with the Nazy.
They actually started massive riots right at the rear of Russian troops right at the time of massive German thrust towards Grozny oilfields. Just like in Yugoslavia muslims tried to win Germans’ sympathy this way. Pretty much backstabbing considering situation at the time. Poor Russians had to fight on two fronts at the time while Germans alone were still too hard for them to crack.
Had Germans captured oilfields the war could have probably turned the other way.

I am sure you’re right. In several of the Soviet republics the Germans were at first welcomed as liberators and there were auxiliary units of the Wehrmacht made up of Ukrainians, Estonians, Belorussians, various Caucasus ethnicity, and even ethnic Russians fighting the Red Army. Many of them were involved in the worst crimes of the Einsatzgruppen. But the Chechens were singled out and exiled as an entire people. I’ve no special sympathy for them. Just mentioning the situation the Russians are in (their homeland is in the Caucasus but there are Chechens, a sub-culture and criminal element like a Mafia, all over the country) has its roots back in WWII.

You are probably right but the reality is Chechens practically couldn’t get along with literally every other ethnicity, so Russians aren’t unique. Chechens had no problem killing Kazakhstan nomads who given them food and shelter in their exile. Boston bombing comes to mind as well. These people are bred supremacists, just browse youtube for a videos from their nationalists. As primitive and violent and tiny their tribe is they believe they are fit for global dominance through violence. And as soon as they are in monoethnic environment they can’t get along with each other as well.
