Report: McCain Concedes Gang of Eight Losing Immigration Debate (they're planning a recess blitz!)
Breitbart.com ^ | 7/17/13 | Tony Lee

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) reportedly conceded that opponents of the Senate's immigration bill are winning the messaging battle during a meeting with Gang of Eight members and big business interests on how to target and pressure House Republicans on comprehensive immigration reform. At the meeting, McCain, along with Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), and Chuck Schumer (R-NY), reportedly plotted out a strategy to target at least 100 House Republicans and pressure House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) to bring a bill to the floor even if it does not have the support of a majority of House Republicans. Boehner has indicated he would not violate the so-called "Hastert Rule" to do just that.

According to Politico, "McCain suggested to the group that they’re losing the messaging battle to immigration opponents."

As a result, McCain "urged the group to push for the Senate bill by discussing its component parts — but not mentioning the overall bill." Graham (R-SC) told the meeting that there are "between 30 and 40 Republicans who are staunchly opposed to the Senate bill — but warned that number cannot grow."

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), one of the most seminal Gang of Eight members, who was often the face of the Senate's immigration bill, reportedly did not even attend the meeting. Rubio has not said a word about immigration since it passed the Senate more than three weeks ago.

Liz Cheney is wisely+suspiciously staying mum on amnesty reform, but here's one that suggests what her secret position on it is.

Dick Cheney on amnesty is for citizenship and on Rubio who he praises April 2013.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney talks to Charlie Rose about immigration problems (2013)

Neocons of a feather.

RE :”;Do you mean that he always claimed to be for border security?”

Well of course, I was referencing his two primaries
Established Formula : ‘party primary’=’claimed’,

McCain=’build the dang fence’

FYI, in 2010, McCain became a “border hawk” regarding illegals here in Arizona. He sounded more like Tom Tancredo, than anyone else. We all knew he was lying his arse off, but he spent 21 million spreading this lie.

” I was hoping to find more, did he debate Hayworth?”

No, and why should he? Every time Hayworth would catch up with McCain, McCain ran like a thief in the night. Why debate a man, when you have 21 million, and Hayworth had 1.8 million?

My point was completely different: that politi"fact" was lying when it said McCain started favoring border security over a pathway to citizenship

"McCain started favoring talking about border security over while still insisting on a pathway to citizenship" is more like it.

To tell the truth, if McCain starts mentioning "border security" more frequently, it means nothing to me. It's just a means to an end for him.

SJB + I don't buy anything Mccain says. We just assume believe Obama as believe him, especially if what he says sounds like its to appeal,

The border talk is BS anyway. The border will never be secure. So McCain said in that quote 'no amnesty talk UNTIL border is secure' , to make primary fools think he means no amnesty ...ever.

Now he votes for amnesty now.

According to Politico, "McCain suggested to the group that they’re losing the messaging battle to immigration opponents."

It's not the "messaging", Juan. It's the bill itself!

It stinks. It smells like...graft and corruption of the rankest sort.

Cindy threatened to sell the Budweiser distributorship, if he did that.
