Absolutely beyond belief. They have nothing to work with after a year of the FBI digging in an effort to find something with which they can work to bring a civil rights case against George Zimmerman, so…
On Monday afternoon, the US Department of Justice appealed to civil rights groups and the general public across the country for “tips” on George Zimmerman in their pursuit of potential federal civil rights charges against the just-acquitted defendant in the Trayvon Martin killing. The DOJ actually went so far as to set up an e-mail address to allow such tips: Sanford.florida@usdoj.gov. The email address is slated to go operational by the end of the week.
Barbara Arnwine, president and executive director of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law told the Orlando Sentinel that the DOJ had held a Monday conference call “calling on us to actively refer anyone who had any information” that would help build a case against Zimmerman. “They said they would very aggressively investigate this case,” Arnwine stated.
According to Arnwine, the call began at 3:30 p.m. with Tom Perez, Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division of the United States DOJ, and representatives of the FBI on the line. Several prosecutors joined the call, too.
Thomas Perez, who is up for Labor Secretary and whose nomination has been held up by Republicans in the Senate so far, is the same walking disaster who opted not to prosecute the New Black Panthers for brandishing night sticks and making racist threats outside a Philadelphia polling place in November 2008.(SNIP)And now Perez is heading up what can only be described as a fishing expedition in an effort to find something – anything – which would support the nonexistent narrative of Zimmerman as racist who hates blacks...

However, there is at least one documentable race-related angle:
As you can see, Zimmerman, in an excess of zeal, motivated by his delusions as (in his own mind) a protector-of-the-weak, actually intervened in an incident where the son of a (white) Sanford police officer beat a homeless black man, and the police covered up the incident. Zimmerman took the side of the black man, against the police.
This could be viewed in such a way that Zimmerman was really anti-black, and was using the homeless man to position himself as a hero (white or white + Hispanic = strong) as compared to the victim (black or black + homeless = weak).
This feeds into the whole anti-black stereotype which has formed part of the historic ruling-class meta-narrative since the very beginning of the overt white hegemonic system of the Ante-Bellum South. This certainly includes Sanford, FL, where unexamined assumptions of superiority must certainly run deep in the entrenched elite Anglo-Peruvian community.
Somehow, you've got work it out that the Sanford police were right, and moreover the homeless man would have preferred cover up the video which documented the beating.
Perhaps the homeless man enjoyed the beating, and Zimmerman did not understand the needs and wishes of the Sanford Sadomasochist Community. Zimmerman was therefore not only a racist meddler, but also insensitive towards Sexual Minorities.
He was absurdly over-confident and morally arrogant because of "White Privilege", since he is allegedly half-white, or 7/16 white, or whatever the racist meddler's ratio is.
Yes? No?
You might want to find that homeless man and him to remember that Zimmerman had inappropriate attitudes toward racial and sexual minorities. Black, white, brown, LGBT or BDSM, who cares? One way or another, I'm sure you can pin it on Zimmerman.
I think it's worth a try.

If Trayvon’s killer had been black, would anyone be claiming Trayvon’s Civil Rights were violated? No!
If that’s the case, then the ONLY difference is that Zimmerman ISN’T black. And that makes it a “hate crime”.
But a murder is a murder. One isn’t any better or worse than another. The minute we start prosecuting people for what’s (allegedly) in their head when they act, that’s the end.
Then again, if Trayvon’s killer would have been black, we never even would have heard about him. Just would have been one more statistic. Right?
This is a government searching for a crime with which to charge a citizen who they wish to punish because a jury of his peers found him innocent in a trumped up case that the government itself tried to contrive.
This is worse than nativism, racism or partisanship.

Holder and Obama make our legal system distinctly resemble Putin’s. They pushed the Constitution and its Bill of Rights aside long ago. Freedom of the Press was happily given away by the mainstream media and Brietbart’s death. It’s only resisted by a couple od Democrats and a dozen or so Republicans. The lynch mobs of the 1920s are back chasing crackers this time.
It’s pretty hard to top leaving 40 people to die in Benghazi or suborning the murders of 2-300 Mexicans.
