A police officer who dropped off his daughter at her Phoenix elementary school was asked by the school’s principal not to wear his uniform to the school because other parents were concerned that he was carrying a gun, MyFoxPhoenix.com reported.

Scott Urkov is a police officer for the Coolidge Police Department. The department told him not to comment to media inquiries, but immediately after he received the no-uniform request, he posted on Facebook.

"Nothing like your kids school calling and asking if I could not come to pick up my daughter in uniform cause parents were concerned when their kids came home telling them there was a man at school with a gun, “ he posted. “Are you freaking kidding me?"

His fellow officers should escort him to and from his daughters school for a few days ... in full uniform.

Haha, after all the backlash they must be getting, they have invited the officer to speak. They want to turn it into a “teachable moment”, he should bring about 20 different types of weapons and demonstrate how to safely carry them.

The generation that comes out of these public schools will be ripe for the chambers.

Tell the “principle” not to call the police if he ever has a problem. They might bring their guns!

You know, some of these families might have a dog. Hence the obvious concern for the health of their furry friends at the hands of officer friendly.

They must be some pretty stupid kids if they can’t tell the difference between “a man with a gun” and a policeman. Stupid kids. It’s not really their fault though. That’s they way the school has programmed them to react.

I'm about the farthest thing from a boot licker, however, in this case I recommend the principal and the concerned parents be fully educated in the “revenue enhancement” activities of their community, first hand, repeatedly.

If I can’t bring mine on school property, neither can any cop not responding to a call. I’m not a second class citizen or a ‘civilian’.

If you don’t like my attitude about it, then go change the law.

That’s what cops tell us anyway.

Another wrong won’t ever straighten the first. Obliging a cop to leave his work tool elsewhere can’t be justified.

The principal is just as much of an idiot as the “concerned” parent(s).

Yep...this is the mindset of the people running the public education system...people with kids in our public schools need to get off their arse and make enough noise against the nonsense so they have no choice but to moderate the rules governing our school systems. Never mind the fact that school shootings are something most adults would have never dreamed of until columbine hit us all between the eyes. The fault there is squarely on the parents for not knowing and controlling what kinds of activities their children take part in. Every child that has unmonitored access to firearms with testosterone squirting out of his ears is an accident looking for a place to happen. It’s the parents job to control that access and prevent these things from happening. Law enforcement cant do it, the schools cant do it, but the parents can if they will just pay attention and do what it takes.

How far we have come from when our hometown Iwo Jima Medal of Honor recipient would bring his rifle to school and tell his story.
