VIRGINIA'S CATHOLIC BISHOPS SAY ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT 'LAWBREAKERS'
breitbart.com ^ | 18 Oct 2013, | DR. SUSAN BERRY

Having been cued by President Obama that his attention will now turn to immigration reform, some Catholic bishops are revving up their campaign to demand that Congress grant amnesty to at least 11 million illegal immigrants. In an op-ed in the Richmond Times-Dispatch entitled “Who Is My Neighbor?” Virginia’s bishops criticized Americans who claim illegal immigrants are “lawbreakers.” Bishops Francis DiLorenzo of Richmond and Paul Loverde of Arlington wrote, “Many regard the undocumented immigrants among us as lawbreakers, when instead we are all challenged to embrace them as fellow children of God, deserving of the same dignity that we ourselves enjoy.” Unlike the model that welcomed our parents, grandparents or great-grandparents to these shores in the last century or before, current policy does not adequately or realistically address the need for visas. Living in this comparatively prosperous, peaceful nation, many Americans seem unaware of the desperate situations that lead people to enter or remain in the country illegally. Around the globe, people yearn for better lives, a chance to escape poverty, jobs to feed their families, reunion with their kin or life in a country free of war. Arguing that “immigration reform will strengthen Virginia socially and economically,” the bishops claim that, regardless, a “path to citizenship” should be accomplished simply “because it is the right thing to do.”

These bishops have nothing to do with my Catholic faith. The Church neither rose nor shall it fall by their hand. “We struggle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers of this dark age.”
Ephesians 6.

The Church shall not be spared my dear friend, but for the sake of the Elect, these days shall be cut short.

God. Eucharist. Sabbath. Repentance. Confession. Prayers up. Stay yourself in the state of Grace with these gifts, no matter if hell comes to your very table. Sacraments are offered for our salvation. We are in coming chastisement and for a time may be without them. Let us gird ourselves in them now. Love, Rita

It’ll be interesting to see, if Obama starts the amnesty push with a lot of noise in the media, if Pope Francis will stick his big nose in and give the typical socialist response in favor of Obama’s plan. He has a big mouth, bigger than all these Bishops.

don't have enough faith to be a Catholic, do you???

"I pray that these Bishops do not drive me from my Church, but Damn, They sure are testing my faith with their BS."

- - - - - - -

I know exactly how you feel.    However, I hope we both manage to stay inside the Church somehow.

Dolan (who loves to huggy-poo and kissy-poo with president B-O -- that extremely anti-Catholic baby-slaughtering bigot), and the rest of the USCCB, are making efforts which go directly against the teachings of the Catholic Church, as found in the Catechism, including here:

- - - - - - -

CCC 2241: Political authorities, for the sake of the common good for which they are responsible, may make the exercise of the right to immigrate subject to various juridical conditions, especially with regard to the immigrants' duties toward their country of adoption. Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them,to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens.
- - - - - - -

The whole USCCB appears to back this lawlessness, seeking not only to reward illegal behaviors by these illegal immigrants, but also to violate the Church's plain teachings, as well as God's laws of fairness and justice, pushing all the law-abiding potential immigrants to the back of the line behind these law-breaking illegal scofflaws. That violates the principles of both fairness and justice, and is just plain wrong.

Unfortunately, this kind of sinful misbehavior by entire national groups of bishops in not new. The Canadian bishop conference openly rebelled against Pope Paul VI and his "Humanae Vitae" in the 1960's.

We've also had a lot of instances in the last 50 years of some really bad bishops arising here and there within the Church (like Judas Iscariot), and trying to teach doctrines contrary to the actual teachings of the Church, either by their words, or by their examples, including that recent nutbag Archbishop of Freiburg, and the recent fruitcake bishop in Scotland, and the recent "bad" bishops in Ireland, and some bad bishops in the US, etc.

Regarding the USCCB, I think we need lay people and clergy (including good bishops) who see through all this kind of nonsense being expressed by these USCCB bishops, to stay inside the Church and fight their nonsense, and to somehow do it in a more organized and noticible and effective kind of way.

So, far, I don't think individual letter writing and that kind of thing does anything to make these USCCB types reconsider what they are pushing for. They just ignore those kinds of letters and emails, and just throw them in the "biz-bag" so to speak.

I think that somehow, we have to get a more organized and a stronger and more powerful and effective approach set up, and it should definitely include an effort to divert Church money donations normally placed in the collection baskets away from Dolan and the USCCB, and towards much more worthy recipients (outside the collection baskets). (And these kinds of efforts need wide publicity and support.)

How all this can be done, I do not know. (We all certainly need to pray a lot.)

Why do so many Catholic Priests believe they can ignore the bible, or even just basic logic?

Why has not the Pope spoken out about this?

These bishops should be counseling these illegal aliens in their churches to atone for their sins and go to confession.

It is sinful to break the legally constituted laws. Instead of excusing the behavior of illegal aliens, these bishops should be sermonizing about the sinfulness of stealing their way into another country, using fraudulent documents to gain illegal employment, stealing innocent people’s identities, taking jobs, livelihoods, and sustenance from their neighbors, joining gangs engaging in criminal activity, adulterous girlfriends with anchor babies while wives languish in Mexico, etc. etc. etc.

These bishops will condemn someone for buying a condom, but excuse millions for stealing my social security account. They need to get out of their elitist and luxurious lifestyles and start living with their flocks in neighborhoods of ladder trucks, gang graffiti, cerveza trash piles, drug lords, and phony document mills.

Oh, and they need to be reminded that at least half of those illegals are not Catholics, but evangelicals or lapsed believers. Ain’t gonna get much collection money from them.

If you want to lose on every social moral issue (Abortion, right to life, ect), make a push for the illegals to stay and get citizenship. The Dems will use the mandate from them to push free abortion on demand, and other nasty things. It will result in a persecution of the church seen currently in Europe.

Britebart’s Susan Barry The lady has a “thing” for the liberal pointy hats in my church. She also has another article in the same issue about some clown, Malloy, a minor pointy hat in Warshington state who says politicians advocating abortion should be able to receive communion. Britebart should have led with that instead of what they did. Maybe US Catholics would wake up to what the wishy washy bs pointy hats are pushing on US. Bring back the “extraordinary liturgy” the old latin mass.

I know already of so many routing money more directly to the needy since that one united collection was discovered to support ACORN and abortion services tucked deep in some fuzzy sounding charity.

You’re right, though, about making a more coherent, organized and meaningful effort to appeal to reason and law for dealing with usccb.

These people who claim to be Bishops obviously have no regard for Jesus Christ, or God Himself.

They let us make our laws, and then there are Gods Laws, and the Bible says we are to obey both...

It’s people like that, that makes it almost impossible to go to Church.
