My wife, the syndicated San Francisco Chronicle columnist Debra J. Saunders, has learned that at least 500,000 Californians may lose their health insurance next year — and that’s a conservative estimate. From her Token Conservative blog:
According to this link as of December 2012, there were 491,977 covered lives in individual health care plans regulated by the state Department Insurance that are not grandfathered under the Affordable Care Act. (If they bought a plan after March 2010, their coverage is not grandfathered.) This is a 2012 number, but if the number of people with private coverage hasn’t changed much in the last ten months, that’s half a million Californians who will lose their coverage.
Between 7 million and 16 million will be losing their health care plans at a minimum.
You can keep your doctor.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH)-- In the midst of major changes in health care, UnitedHealthCare has sent thousands of pink slips to Connecticut doctors.Termination letters went to physicians caring for Medicare patients. Those letters were sent out to doctors caring for 'Medicare Advantage' patients. It's a plan, marketed to Seniors to provide additional services through UnitedHealthCare.
A mix of primary care and specialty doctors are affected by it. And it comes at a questionable time.
Open enrollment for Medicare starts next Tuesday, and it's still not clear at this time as to which doctors are still in the United network.
The Connecticut State Medical Society is fighting back. The biggest concern is patient access to healthcare.

What many if the LIV don’t realize it the reason you cannot keep your doctor or your plan. The Government is requiring every plan to cover so much more, such as things you wouldn’t need anyway. And doctors Re being fired or leaving of their own accord. Of course, the LIV blend the doctors and health insurance companies unsteady of placing the blame where it belongs , ON OBAMA AND THE DEMOCRATS!!
