The United States is the global leader in medical innovation. You can measure that by Nobel Prizes or biotech R&D or where breakthrough treatments are developed or commercialized. And as University of Michigan economist Miles Kimball points out, one reason healthcare spending is lower in other advanced economies is their ability to cheaply copy drugs and medical techniques developed in the US at great expense.
But healthcare innovation isnt just about miracle drugs and cutting-edge technology. Innovation can happen in how healthcare services are delivered and paid for. And it is in this area that the Affordable Care Act is particularly harmful to innovation. The laws medical loss ratio, or MLR level is supposed to suppress costs by requiring insurance companies to pay out on health claims at least 80% of the revenue they take in from premium payments. The 20% left over can be used for administration and profits. (Medicare has a 98% MLR. Then again, it also suffers from $60 billion a year in annual fraudulent payments.)....

....Disruptive innovation transforms industries by lowering prices, creating new products and services, and increasing value. But that sort of transformative change typically comes from the new guys on the block who are locked into existing business models. In this case, Obamacare has created a gated community with a big sign: Entrepreneurs Keep Out.

When the world heard an ugly, Skeletor-like creator say “you have to pass it to see what’s in it,” that should’ve been a wakeup call to the country and world; wake up to the world in that we’re not reliable anymore, and a wakeup call that we have avowed dictators in our government.
Merely tasking each Senator and Representative to sign a piece of paper stating they’d read the entire act and comprehended it....would be enough. Once we got to a stage where nothing is read and all representation is told to vote some way...regardless of the act itself...we were lost.
Try creating a 2,000-page credit card rule change situation, and sending out the pdf to each card holder. The bulk would look at the size of the file...question what the heck was going on, and drop the card within days.
Just how stupid...are we?
Anything associated with “Nobel Prizes” lost all credibility after Obama’s peace prize.
“...lost all credibility after Obamas peace prize.”
Really? Ever hear of Yasser Arafat?

So, if our system is destoyed other countries will take over the innovation costs and we can cheaply copy drugs and medical techniques developed at their expense! Sounds like a win to me!
Obamacare is a Hate Crime against America and is working out exactly as the Democrats planned. Democrats are helping Obama destroy the country he despises.
Those selections must be an example of some sort of sick Norwegian humor most of the world doesn’t understand. There’s no other rational explanation.
The people hooked on government freebies slept through Nancy’s speech.

Very well said.....
Remember when Nancy Pelosi said:
We have to pass it, to find out whats in it
A physician called into a radio show and said:
“that’s the definition of a stool sample”.
That pretty much sums it up......
Obama’s in 2009 was “for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples”
Awarded within a few months of his presidency and he had done nothing.
There’s a lot worse Nobel prize winners than Arafat.
Arafat’s was in 1994 but awarded jointly with “Shimon Peres and Yitzhak Rabin “for their efforts to create peace in the Middle East”.
Arafat’s dead which is where he belongs along with anyone calling them self Palestinian which is a non-existent people.
