A little more fascism here, a little there, and before you know it we’re completely fascist.

I watched the video. Howe broke no rule. He had no car there. So he reasonably asked if they'd like him to stand in between two cars and wait his turn.
That's when a fat rent-a-cop got upset and started spouting the usual "Yo will respect mah 'thoritah!" crap.
The cop was more emotional and abusive than the parent.

A comment off of Yahoo
My local school contains a similar policy yet they recently received a federal grant for redoing the city sidewalks on the way to school under the "safe walk to school act" even though students are actually prohibited from walking to school under school policy. In other words my city used federal money under the guise on giving children a safe walk to school when children are actually prohibited from using the sidewalk for the very reason that the grant was offered. Talk about fraud. I love the sidewalk and the city is poor but this is very wrong.
fraud it is

back when my kids were in public school that didnt matter. One day it was storming so they took all the kids indoors. They had no idea where the kids were and would not release them. The lockdown was lifted before I got arrested.

Schools need to learn that they do not own the kids

I'm glad that we homeschool as that saves my husband the trouble of having to impart to publiK ejukashun types just what kinds of things he learned in 25 years of being a Marine.

I’m glad I am not a kid these days. I was elementary school age in the 70’s. I was always fiercely independent. I walked and bicycled to school from the time I was in first grade. I would not take the bus, and it was an embarassment (in tween to teen years) to be seen with the parents. I walked and rode my bike everywhere, and this was in Los Angeles (so not out in the country). Today I think it is illegal for a kid under 12 to even be in a park without an adult present, that would have been a fate worse than death.

I found out the hard way that you are not allowed to walk to/from O’Hare airport. You MUST take a shuttle, even if you want to stretch your legs after a three hour flight in a cramped seat.

I hope the dad encourages dozens of other parents to withdraw their students and homeschool or private school.
It will be great when the tyrants running the school lose out on the money they get for packing it with kids.

OMG....just when you think teachers can’t be MORE STUPID....you can’t WALK to pick up your kid????? OMG!!!

The school policy is to wait in the car. Does "school policy" have the force of law?
Can one legally be arrested for violating a "school policy?" What would be the charge?
