It seems the city of Vancouver, British Columbia is demonstrating that quite literally. "Bancouver," as it will not be affectionately referenced has decided to ban door knobs. No, seriously, they have.

From 1978-81, I was in Uncle Sam’s Army and serving in West Germany. When we spoke of our eventual return to the continental US, there was a term of reference, “The Land of the Round Doorknobs”, because all doors in Germany had lever handles. At the time, I just thought of it as being that “Euro-style” like we experience at IKEA today.
