"Duck Dynasty" will NOT go homeless if A&E decides to pull the plug ... TMZ has learned, at least two other networks are salivating at the chance to pick up the popular reality show.
The owner of the popular Christian-affiliated Hunt Channel -- a guy named Merrill Sport -- tells TMZ, he'd pick up DD in a heart beat ... and would beam the show straight to its most loyal viewers: sportsmen and Christians.
He says, "We believe in the 2nd amendment and freedom of speech ... A&E needs to put on their big boy pants, and if they don't like the programming, they need to either let [DD] go or shut up and pay them."
Sports adds, "A&E is too scripted. [Hunt Channel] would let the personalities flow."
Rusty Faulk, CEO of the outdoorsy Pursuit Channel agrees, telling us Pursuit is 100% interested in grabbing DD if A&E takes a pass. Rusty adds, "We don't censor our personalities."
Even if DD comes to an end on A&E, we're told its contract with the family provides they couldn't do another show for a certain period of time.
The contract between the Robertsons, the production company and A&E contains a standard non-compete clause. In other words, if the Robertsons walk, they must remain off the air for 6-12 months before launching another show on a competing channel.
However, I’m not sure how the non-compete applies to a scenario where they are fired by A&E. I was in radio years ago, and in some cases, if you were dismissed, you could sign immediately with a competing station. In other situations—particularly if the departing personality was popular, they still had to sit out the non-compete before going on the air with a rival.
One more thing: when the serious bidding for Duck Dynasty II begins, the folks at these small outdoors channels will be blown out of the water. CMT and Spike will be crawling over each other to get a crack at the show, along with many more basic cable channels. I also expect Glenn Beck and BlazeTV to enter the fray; I’ve heard that Blaze is running ahead of revenue and audience projections, and he could offer the Robertsons an even larger slice of the pie.
What would be really cool is if they’d break the mold and blow up the whole cable industry. Go online, via Netflix or some similar video streaming service. The servers would melt down under the load! But they could be the straw that breaks not just A&E, but the back of the confiscatory cable price structure.
This would allow people dump cable, pay to watch content they care about and pay the content owner directly. Let’s say only half of those 12 million viewers followed them online, that’s 6 million subscriptions at, let’s say, $10 per year? Could they do the show and pay Netflix for $60 million a year? Or, make it $15 per year and the extra $5 per subscriber would give them an extra $30 million per year to do the Lords Work with!
Some way, some day, somebody is going to upset the cable TV applecart...

It is clear now that Phil crushed A&E and the homosexuals. Actually the represent less that 2% of humanity. A sick 2%. But Phil is our hero and I will write him in for president unless our beloved Ted Cruz gets the nomination. But the republicrat party is so crappy ,it won’t happen. So!! write in Phil Robinson!!! BTW there are 15 satellite/ cable networks ready to pounce on that series — 600 Million in revenues!! Get back in the closet deviates!!
A&E projected replacement show: Gay Dynasty which they are excited about with a viewing public of a little over 1%.
Who ever made the decision about DD should be cleaning out garbage can now.
USAA is largely based in San Antonio.
I’ve been with them since I was 16 (under my dad’s policy then).

If it were my family, unless some contractual obligation prevents it, I would open up the competitive bidding and tell a&e they are welcome to bid. And I would start the bidding at the current rate that a&e pays now. That would teach them a lesson.

As a hollywood producer, every agent ALWAYS has an escape clause in the contract. Unless their agent is a complete moron, I doubt it’s ironclad. All of our shows have contracts with the actors that are agreeable to both parties, especially with the production company involved with the show.

The problems are not regional. There are fags and liberals in every state and there are conservative Christians in every state. The difference between states is in the ratio. This is not like 1861. To think the fight for conservatism is a fight between states is simplistic, ignorant and indicates intellectual laziness.

Irregardless of what happens ... whether DD stays or goes ... I want A&E to suffer as a result of this travesty.
