Dallas County Sheriff Harris Huffman said the incident appeared to be a case of self-defense and no one has been arrested in connection with the shooting Thursday afternoon.One customer showed good situational awareness, and was able to escape out the back door:
The incident occurred when Dallas County resident Kevin Mclaughlin entered Dollar General reportedly waving a pistol in the air, Huffman said. Mclaughlin then ushered a group of people inside the store into a break room.
Orrville resident Deforest James said he was in the Dollar General moments before the shooting occurred. James exited the building shortly after Mclaughlin waved the pistol and told customers not to move.No one can be certain how the incident would have turned out if customer Marlo Ellis had not been there and been armed, but the indications are that he prevented some very bad things from happening.
“He said he was looking for three bad mother—-ers and then I ran out and I busted out through the back door,” James said.

What the Hell is with this story? Is this an excerpt? I read that some guy ran out a back door. How did that stop a shooting?

It just says he ran away. That only saves one persons life, his own.
Yea. That was pretty bad, made even worse by all the energy it took to find the actual source article.
There was a customer who (I deduce here) followed the crowd into the break room and shot the perp. One bullet for the kill shot. Must’ve been a good center mass strike. Or else a head shot. The story doesn’t say.
Apparently, the man who killed the perp was himself charged with a sex crime about a year ago.

When I post excerpted material I always try to post the text of the key points, after all many freepers here don't even seem to read that, they seem to reply to titles.
Not this FReeper. I learned my lesson many years ago, after a few kicks in the teeth for Premature Pontification.
Here's my favorite, this title seemed to sucker every single freeper that commented on it till I exposed it a #21, and even then a lot came on posting irrelevant comments.
