Global warming is an evil scourge that has played havoc across the US recently. Temperatures in my home state of Florida have plunged with the latest cold snap, forcing me to turn on my home's heater to combat the insidious freezing power of global warming. As cold as it has gotten in Florida, other parts of the South were harder hit. In Alabama, thousands of students were trapped in their schools and forced to stay overnight. The biggest spectacle took place in Atlanta, Georgia, where roads shut down as thousands of drivers were stranded. It was like watching a scene of devastation out of The Walking Dead with bumper-to-bumper traffic sitting idle in the snow. Global warming then went on interfere with air travel with over 3100 flights cancelled on Tuesday alone. All in all, a grand total of 140 million people spread throughout 34 states were under a winter weather advisory or worse. Curse you, global warming!
How do I know that global warming is behind all these arctic temperatures? Because such scientific luminaries such as Bette Midler have told me so. Midler tweeted, "If you live in The South and still believe Climate Change doesn't exist, wake up. And buy a snow shovel." While I despise the progressive left, I do have to admire their linguistic dexterity. We were told that man-made global warming was going to devastate the planet and that the science was settled. Then a funny thing happened. It seems that all the scientists who agreed that the science was settled had far-left political views that advocated statism and that they financially benefited from the global warming agenda. When asked to look at the original data that they based their research on, it was wiped out (something that no scientist ever does), and then correspondence was found showing them colluding with one another over the hysteria. Finally, real science came out and showed that temperatures had been flat for fifteen years. Suddenly, as if by magic, global warming became climate change. Now it didn't matter if it got too hot or too cold, the culprit was climate change. When your lie is exposed, then the progressive left just changes the definitions of the content of the discussion.
The truth is that global warming/climate change is essentially a cult whose adherents are anti-liberty and pro-big government. They were successful for a while convincing people of their big lie, but once huge winter storms came every year, people began to open their eyes and see the truth. Now the global warming fanatics are on the defensive, so they're constantly pushing the new narrative that climate change leads to devastating cold snaps. Practically every media outlet and leftist groups repeatedly spew this lie in order to reverse the tide of public opinion. Of course, dissent can't be tolerated so moderators of sites such as the science forum on reddit or editors of opinion pages won't even allow climate change skeptics to even voice their arguments. You just can't have an open debate when you're pushing a lie, can you?
But I'm sure that somewhere on the earth there must be a child somewhere that will never see snow. How very sad.
To use the term “climate change” as anything abnormal for earth is about as unscientific as you can get on the matter.
The climate - the term people use when they really mean the weather - is and always was and always has been changing since the earth was created, and the giant forces that determine actual long term changes and their “ups and downs” are larger and more influential in setting up those cycles than any input of man.
The modern human problem is that folks like the global warming alarmists are taking advantage of the short term memory - in the long life of earth - of a mere few human generations who are led to believe, in error, that what they have been accustomed to for their brief lives is, or was, some sort of “norm” and any noticable alteration of that is some sort of “unnatural” occurance.
What earth history shows is for the weather to NOT be changing over the course of time is what would NOT be natural for earth.
Many places on earth that are now desert have the evidence beneath them that they were once as “green” as anywhere else on earth, and other places on earth that are now very warm have evidence beneath and within them that they were once under mile high fields of ice, for centuries and in some places more than once before.
If there is anything to be done about actual “climate change” it is to use our ingenuity to adapt to it and where needed mitigate its affects. That will be the most effective, efficient and legitimate use of our time and resources, and immensely less wasteful to our economic lives and our health.

but not even 1 hurricane this year. the climate hasn’t changed .it’s actually pretty stable for the past 200 years.temps about the same, sea level the same etc.. there’s no more hurricanes, no warming, no cooling over that time.

Our local Gannett newsrag had an editorial page cartoon today depicting a buck-toothed individual (intended, I think, to portray a hayseed from flyover country), who said this: “Since it’s cold outside my door, global warming can’t be happening.” Then in a following panel: “And since it’s flat as far as I can see, the Earth is flat.”
