Is It Over, and We Just Don’t Know It?

Historians have a tough time agreeing on many of the turning points in ancient history.

One of them, in light of events during the past several years and the tone of President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address on January 28, seems particularly relevant.

(snip)

There’s little doubt that the United States of America has reached a point where, relatively unhampered by legislative or judicial barriers, its president and his bureaucracy exceed the limits of the nation’s Constitution “as a matter of course.” They in turn are quietly but effectively under the control of our “independent” central bank.

Decades from now, it’s possible that historians will look back and conclude that the American experiment, which began with its declaration of independence from and defeat of Great Britain, ended sometime between 1999 and 2014. As with Rome, the pivotal event isn’t obvious, and the list which follows isn’t all-inclusive.

......

I certainly hope I’m wrong, and I’m not suggesting that we hang our heads and give up. But it sure feels like we are already in the grip of post-constitutional despotism. The best counter-argument right now is that some in Congress have finally determined that passing laws or even discussing legislation while a lawless president is in office is a pointless exercise. Will enough of them figure that out in time to begin taking the country back?

No, the event that will be cited as the primary cause of the decline and fall of the US will be the Immigration Act of 1965. It set the stage for what has happened later.

I thought we were goners in the 1970’s which I thought were worse then today by a million miles. I could not stand Carter for even a second. We survived then and we will now. 2016 we may just get our “Reagan”. Remember many thought Reagan was just a Hollyweird actor in 1979-1980...he proved everyone wrong.

(Subtitle from the article) Have we lost our Founders' government?

The more important question is - DO we have a blueprint (the same Constitution) to start over after the collapse? How do we know the next experiment won't repeat the same errors committed previously?

So if we have provisions to "prevent that", it won't be the same Founding Fathers' governance, would it?

It was over in November 2008 and confirmed 4 years later in 2012.

This will be remembered in our history (if there is still such a thing as recorded history in our future) as the time when insanity, racism, envy, greed and hatred triumphed over traditional America. It will also become the singular milestone event wherein Christianity was supplanted by Islam and ‘diversity’.

What do you mean "them"?

It’s over for ‘Obama.’

Dems are avoiding ‘president’ Bari Shabazz, son of Malcolm X and FBI ‘Weatherman Group’ fugitive Elizabeth Ann Duke, who skipped bail after being charged in 1985 with the Brinks robbery in Nyack NY in whi. 3 law enforcement officers were shot dead.

Also, upon arrest, the mother of ‘president’ Bari Shabazz was caught with fake birth certificates, several SSN cards that weren’t hers, and equipment to manufacture forged ID.

She skipped bail in 1985 and became an FBI Most Wanted fugitive until after Barry was elected, when bizarrely, in 2009, Eric Holder’s DOJ dismissed all charges against the still-at-large mother.

Bill Ayers was in the same ‘Weathermen’ terrorist group.
Obama’s mother and associates formed a Communist splinter group dedicated to the violent overthrow of the US government, hence their bombings of the Capitol and a list of other buildings including the PBA and military facilities

In 1970 one in 21 was foreign-born; today it is one in 8, the highest in 90 years; and within a decade, it will be one in 7, the highest in our history. We don’t have the same electorate that we had in the 1970s.

I like your optimism and I pray that you're correct.
I wish I shared it.

From the article:

These days, the law seems to be whatever Barack Obama and Eric Holder want it to be.

the highest in our history.

I find that hard to believe considering that only Native Americans were originally “born” here.

February 27, 1951, Twenty-second Amendment.

Term limit of two terms, should have been for ALL federal offices, with elections of federal judges also with term limits.

The framers never foresaw that humans would live to be 100+
and thus did not include term limits as they thought that nature would remove elected officials from office.

“Bring back AMERICAN jobs.”

What makes you think we are entitled to those jobs. Did God make a proclaimation with thunder and lightning and say “thou shalt have jobs forever and those shall be AMERICAN JOBS”

When did we get ownership of those jobs no matter how poorly or how expensively we do them ?

And let me tell you the job people were doing in Detroit making cars in the 70’s 80’s and 90’s was really bad.

You comments are like liberals saying “BRING BACK DEMOCRATS IN THE HOUSE, NOW.”

The democrats screwed up. They had those jobs for over 50 years and they lost them in 1994 and deservedly so.

You keep posting this line like “Bring back Reagan now.” or if you were a democrat it would be “Bring back the New Deal now.”

Bring back AMERICAN jobs.

Bring back jobs, or enact Tariffs, and grow new jobs.

Do one, or the other now.

America needs jobs. A whole lot of jobs. Now.

It officially ended Tuesday, November 4, 2008. It unofficially ended a year before when the usurper was allowed to run for an office he wasn’t eligible for.
