What Boehner has been doing recently does not seem rational- if they really do have smething on him, he needs to be honest and come clean to his party.

If Boehner is being squeezed by some powerful and hidden force, he ought to just resign his seat for the good of the nation, instead of doing their bidding.

I honestly don't give a damn what they have on him. If he's compromised, then it's time to go home. Let someone who can't be compromised have the job.

Boehner is exhibiting more than weakness; he’s showing outright fear. He has to be compromised. The Dems have something good on him and he’s their puppet.

Is is appalling that so many Freepers believe Boehner is being blackmailed or such.

Anyone who has followed Boehner knows clearly that over time Boehner has become a rabid Statist.

Boehner is in it for Beohner.

Boehner is a very evil human being.

Our Republic is being destroyed by an evil out of control President and he stands by and cries.

Boehner wholeheartedly wants 100% amnesty so he can get his lobbying payoff -- no matter that amnesty destroys our Republic as founded

When events compel "We the People" to reestablish true Constitutional governance, may Boehner and the rest of the Statist be shown absolutely no mercy.

I think he is so blinded by his hatred of conservatives, and the Tea Party, that he (and his fellow travelers) will do whatever they think it takes to destroy them — and if that means the destruction of the GOP and the very country itself, they don’t care.

Brilliant. Boehner does have a red-hot hatred of the Tea Party.

I ask all Freepers to view videos of Beohner when he attacks the Tea Party -- he is fully alive and revealing his core nature.

To repeat, Boehner is a very evil human being.

It can’t be both?

It can, I just don't believe any of them being "compromised" is near as likely or frequent as some FReepers seem to think. I agree with Starboard -- power is the thing. The GOP-e hasn't ever really done more than tolerate conservatism. Then came 2008, the Palin attacks, the Romney fiasco, Ted Cruz.... and we all coalesced under the Tea Party. Suddenly lip service wasn't enough and that pissed them off. And it's just been growing exponentially. Anyway, that's JMHO.

Fair enough, and I certainly hope you are correct.

I have a different spin on all of this.

I do hate the Speaker.

I wonder what these guys know something is coming down the road a little ways that is going to overshadow all of this.

In other words, what would make this moot—kind of like the shark attacks all during the summer of ‘01.

I see a bad moon arising.

we all coalesced under the Tea Party

*********

I’m hoping there’s a major Tea Party rally in DC in the springtime. We really need an event like this, and soon. Time to flex our muscles again and send a message with a huge turnout this time.

While I don’t agree with the premise that any Republican who sides with the Democrats is necessarily subject to blackmail for misconduct of some kind - that “THEY have something on him (or her)”, I do maintain that we can analyze specific cases individually and reach a likely conclusion.

1. We can generally agree that, in the vast majority of cases (unfortunately), the primary interest of incumbent politicians of any party is re-election.

2. I think we can also agree that Boehner, Cantor, McConnell and a few others whose re-election is almost entirely dependent on capturing their electoral base (registered Republicans) have repeatedly and consistently acted against the wishes of the majority of their base, which, by its very nature, violates the first condition.

Given the above, what might one conclude as to the reason why they would behave as such? While there are many partial reasons, including major sources of funding and the “obligations” that accompany them, the two most likely conclusions are: 1) They are all delusional idiots; and 2) Someone, somewhere - whether it be Democrats or not, “has something on them” that would immediately destroy their chances for re-election (or worse).

Occam’s Razor anyone?
