How Environmental policies are causing havoc for farmers from California to Great Britain
February 16, 2014

Real time events highlighting how environmentalists have caused "climate change DISRUPTION" prompt this post. These "green" meddlers cause the problem then demand that we change our lifestyles to worship at the altar of their green, social engineering religion.

Barack Obama is starting his "green" push and deep bow to environmentalists: Obama pledges help for drought-stricken California

John Kerry, U.S. Secretary of State is moving forward with "green" push and deep bow to environmentalists: John Kerry to make clarion call for more action on climate change

John Podesta aka Hillay's man in the WH to get things in place has his hands in everything green: What Podesta’s WH return means for Obama’s environmental policy

John P. Holdren, Director of Obama's Science and Technology office and "Population Bomb co-author" outlines reasons for administrations renewed push for climate policy: Proposed $1 billion climate fund

The EPA has been given a free hand - no need for legislation when they can dictate.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

To illustrate the deceit and manipulation of global [warming, cooling, change, disruption] that is central to the growing public outrage over green policies, I submit these two pieces reporting on current events.

DROUGHT Green policies have manufactured the "CA drought":

Obama blames climate change, not green policies, for California drought

"President Obama paid a visit to the drought-stricken San Joaquin Valley in California, promising nearly $3 billion in aid to the region to combat the effects of global warming, which he says is causing the drought.

But is it? IDB says there's nothing mysterious about the drought in California; it's manmade:

"......... The one thing that will mitigate droughts in California - a permanent feature of the state - is to restore the water flow from California's water-heavy north to farmers in the central and south. That's just what House Bill 3964, which passed by a 229-191 vote last week, does.

But Obama's plan is not to get that worthy bill through the Senate (where Democrats are holding it up) but to shovel pork to environmental activists and their victims, insultingly offering out-of-work farmers a "summer meal plan" in his package.

....."They want to blame the drought for the lack of water, but they wasted water for the past five years," said Nunes.

The two explain that California's system of aqueducts and storage tanks was designed long ago to take advantage of rain and mountain runoff from wet years and store it for use in dry years. But it's now inactive - by design. "California's forefathers built a system (of aqueducts and storage facilities) designed to withstand five years of drought," said Nunes.

"We have infrastructure dating from the 1960s for transporting water, but by the 1990s the policies had changed," said Valadao.

Environmental special interests managed to dismantle the system by diverting water meant for farms to pet projects, such as saving delta smelt, a baitfish. That move forced the flushing of 3 million acre-feet of water originally slated for the Central Valley into the ocean over the past five years....."

FLOODING Great Britain's been experiencing heavy rains with devastating, widespread flooding - the truth about why the flooding is so bad:

Floods of incompetence - why Chris Smith should resign from the Environment Agency

".........The key to the Somerset Levels lies in its rivers, kept dredged to provide all that water pumped off the land with an escape route down to the sea. From the moment the Environment Agency took over, however, it began to neglect its responsibility for keeping those rivers clear. From 2000 onwards, under the leadership of a Labour peeress, Baroness Young of Old Scone, this reluctance to dredge and to maintain the pumping stations became a deliberate ideology, designed to give priority to the interests of ‘habitat’ and ‘biodiversity’ over those of protecting the Levels as farmland. Lady Young is famously said to have remarked that she wanted to see ‘a limpet mine attached to every pumping station’.

The undredged rivers gradually become clogged with silt, drastically reducing their ability to take floodwater away. The Somerset farmers and engineers who run the local ‘drainage boards’, responsible for cleaning the ditches or ‘rhynes’, also found that the Environment Agency was forever on their backs, imposing every kind of restriction on what needed to be done; such as how they could dispose of the resulting silt and vegetation, now classified as rigorously ‘controlled waste’.

The inevitable result has been the shambles which those who live on the Levels have now had to endure for years. They have always been accustomed to winter flooding of the vast area that is below sea level. But this is worse than anything in memory — not just more extensive but lasting for months rather than weeks. The cost this year may be in excess of £100 million. Dredging the rivers would cost £4.5 million, which the Agency found to be excessive. (Although it cheerfully footed the £31 million bill for a bird sanctuary.)....."

These are the same nuts who whine about “population control” because we’ll, “run out of food”. The only thing that will make us run of food will be these idiotic regulations.

Prostituting Science

"Over at Forbes, Patrick Michaels, Director of the Center for the Study of Science at the Cato Institute and a senior fellow in research and economic development at George Mason University, has written a serious and thought-provoking piece regarding the deleterious impact of the fraud of global warming on the world scientific community. Michaels, citing an article in the Australian literary journal, Quadrant, by Garth Paltridge, whom Michaels characterizes as one of the world's most respected atmospheric scientists, posits a harsh view of the inevitable and devastating impact of the current climate change hysteria on future scientific research........

....Michaels closing quote from Paltridge article....:

"In the light of all this, we have at least to consider the possibility that the scientific establishment behind the global warming issue has been drawn into the trap of seriously overstating the climate problem -- or, what is much the same thing, of seriously understating the uncertainties associated with the climate problem -- in its effort to promote the cause. It is a particularly nasty trap in the context of science, because it risks destroying, perhaps for centuries to come, the unique and hard-won reputation for honesty which is the basis of society's respect for scientific endeavor."

There it is from an eminent climate scientist, just what we here at American Thinker have been suspecting all along. Global warming is a both scam perpetrated by greedy opportunists like Al Gore, as well as a cult composed of those disaster-dependent ding-a-lings among us who have no incentive in life if that life is not imminently threatened by whatever the latest perceived threat may be; and lastly by a bunch of avaricious academics willing to sell their scientific souls to that big government devil for a place to nose into the trough of federal funding for research......"

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls the climates of all its planets.

3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

Barack Obama dumping taxpayer money into the farmers hands because his environmental policies are killing the farming in California. What he is doing in California he is doing all over America.

Then to add insult to injury WARMESTS do this:

U.S. launches 'climate hubs' to help farmers face climate change " President Barack Obama's administration announced the formation on Wednesday of seven "climate hubs" help farmers and rural communities adapt to extreme weather conditions and other effects of climate change.

The hubs will act as information centers and aim to help farmers and ranchers handle risks, including fires, pests, floods and droughts, that are exacerbated by global warming.

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, briefing reporters at the White House, said the country's experience with extreme weather patterns recently underscores the need for taking steps now to address the impact of climate change on agriculture and forestry......"

Of course these STATE centers have an added "benefit" since public assistance offices MUST PROVIDE voter registration opportunities. The National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA)

"......The National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (also known as the “NVRA” or “motor voter law”) sets forth certain voter registration requirements with respect to elections for federal office. Section 5 of the NVRA requires that States offer voter registration opportunities at State motor vehicle agencies. Section 6 of the NVRA requires that States offer voter registration opportunities by mail-in application. Section 7 of the NVRA requires that States offer voter registration opportunities at certain State and local offices, including public assistance and disability offices. Section 8 of the NVRA contains requirements with respect to the administration of voter registration by States......"

BTW - this also applies to the ACA aka as Obamacare - You are ASSISTED with voter registration at their website.

Socialism [green] kills everything, everywhere and every time it is tried.

"Lysenkoism is used metaphorically to describe the manipulation or distortion of the scientific process as a way to reach a predetermined conclusion as dictated by an ideological bias, often related to social or political objectives."

20 years ago, I had a professor who talked about how politicians were setting the area up for a complete disaster with their ecological policies.

The climate change/global warming fiasco shines the light on how government grants have corrupted the universities.

Anyone familiar with how universities grub for money will realize that no university will turn down millions of dollars in grants to “study” global warming.

Make that: to “verify” global warming.

Just this morning:

“Secretary of State John Kerry ripped into doubters of climate change Sunday, dismissing such people as members of the “Flat Earth Society” who are “simply burying their heads in the sand.”

Kerry, who has framed global warmed as a centerpiece of his diplomatic agenda, kicked off a tour in Jakarta, Indonesia devoted to climate change.

“We should not allow a tiny minority of shoddy scientists and science and extreme ideologues to compete with scientific facts,” Kerry told students at the U.S. Embassy-run American Center. “Nor should we allow any room for those who think that the costs associated with doing the right thing outweigh the benefits.”

“The science is unequivocal, and those who refuse to believe it are simply burying their heads in the sand,” he added. “We don’t have time for a meeting anywhere of the Flat Earth Society.”........................
