I guess he figures he's got the primary election in the bag and doesn't need to campaign against Doug Truax.
PING
GO TRUAX !
Oberweis is a lamer version of Tommy Thompson
This really ticks me off. This man is, in the most polite of terms that I can muster, not a quality human being, and a tremendously horrible candidate.
It’s pains be that many people refuse to see that because he effectively preaches to the choir on immigration.
In other IL news
Frontrunner for the GOP nomination for CD-8 had apparently falsely claimed that Herman Cain endorsed her.
And it’s not the only weird story about Goel’s campaign
http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20140311/news/140319517/
Even more ironic: Truax is to his RIGHT on immigration (Oberweis said he would be OKAY with an "comprhensive immigration reform bill" giving illegals "permanent residency" status as long as it DIDN'T include a path to citizenship, while Truax flat out opposes ANY type of "immigration reform" bill being brought up while the border is unsecured, and says Obama simply can't be trusted to hold up his end of the deal).
So if the reason why Oberweis is sooo awesome is because he did a "deport all illegals" ad a decade ago, it's not even a factor anymore.
If illegal immigration is THE "most important issue" now, Truax should be your guy.
Weird factor in that race... she’s STILL insisting he DID endorse her, but she removed all references to “Herman Cain” in her campaign literature and website anyway.
I remember the Adam Andrejewski fan club pulled a similar stunt two days before the election and claimed Adam had “Rush Limbaugh’s endorsement” because Rush praised the event where Adam and Lech Walesa spoke at (and NEVER mentioned Adam by name or “endorsed” him). Of course, since it was 48 hours before the election, nobody called them out with the phony “Rush Limbaugh” endorsement claim.
There is supposedly audio of this endorsement but the video at the link did not work for me.
Very strange. Whatever the truth is it doesn’t speak well to her campaign. Neither does her bizarre claim (see the Daily Harold link) that she heard her primary opponent say he would get campaign funds from “the Hollywood mafia” and that she had proof of this (which she has not produced).
Doesn’t bode well for our chances to win that seat.
everyone is in Florida now, spring break
Illinois had yet another snow storm today, I'm sure we'd all love to be in Florida on spring break with the college kids (of course, I could never afford trips to Miami when I was in college). But we're talking about a U.S. Senate candidate. You do NOT go on vacation a few days BEFORE the election. Quite frankly, I'm surprised this issue hasn't gotten more media coverage and severely damaged or killed his campaign. Oberweis figures he has it in the bag and the media is probably slyly waiting for the general election, knowing he'll be easy to destroy.

I know Joe Walsh endorsed Goel to be his successor for that seat. Unfortunately I really haven't followed the primary races in IL-8 or IL-11 (four way race there) very closely. Locally I'm near IL-3 so I've followed that one very closely. PhilCollins kept trying to get me to endorse Diane Harris. Between Harris and Brannigan, I had a hard time picking, they're both decent candidates but either way it will be difficult unseating Lipinski. Over in IL-9, we have a pair of horrible candidates - a nut that's clearly out of her league and some RINO who's a Paulbot and mostly likely also nuts but better at hiding it. The only ones I'm really excited about is Bobby Schilling running to take back IL-17 (which will be difficult given how RAT they've made the district, but with Obamacare he has an opening), and Erick Harold primarying incumbent Rodney Davis in IL-13 (which really IS the kind of race Liz Cheney fans falsely advertised their candidate as -- a staunch conservative fighter vs. a do-nothing incumbent)
Meanwhile...
the DC insiders must have cut some deal to allow durbin to stay. That is the only explanation for a candidate that would do this kind of bone headed move. This is not a fighter. This is lazy.
Oberweis supporter on Illinois review:
“Maybe doug should have started going for an office he could win like State Rep.”
Gotta love the irony of that statement. It would like Michael Moore saying “Maybe Chris Christie ought to lose some weight before giving his political opinions to TV cameras”
Not to worry. Rino Kirk is a good friend of Illinois Democrats and would not think of endorsing any Republicans.
Oberweis shunned by fellow Republicans
