On April 25th, Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. offered a compelling speech to attendees at the NRA-ILA Convention in Indianapolis in which he stated that former Supreme Court Justice J.P Stevens was pathetically incorrect in his claim that adding just 5 words to the 2nd Amendment would clear up all confusion as to its meaning.

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms when serving in the militia shall not be infringed.”

Clarke told the convention audience that he disagreed with the gun-grabbing, left-wing jurist. “Keep your hands off our guns, Dammit” are the 7 words I would place at the end of the 2nd Amendment, said Clarke, adding ”Just what part of ‘shall not be infringed’ does Justice Stevens not understand?”

How do I create my own “Well Regulated Militia” and if I do and the government wants to shut it down, how can they? Wouldn’t them shutting it down be unconstitutional?

All the county sheriffs in this country need to take their cue from Sheriff Clarke on the Second Amendment. If they all were as firmly committed to their oath as Sheriff Clarke, we would all breath a little easier. It is important that you have a sit down with your sheriff to find out where he/she stands on the issue. I checked with my sheriff and he told me he has no authority to do anything regarding federal overreach. At least I now know not to waste my time or to rely on this deadbeat.
