This “shortage” is actually a “shortage” of of over-qualified people willing to work like dogs for depressed wages for their masters.

Really! My husband was laid off 3 months after he had surgery for prostate cancer.
He had nt been able to put in theb 60/70/80 hour work weeks like he ad previously.
We talked to a lawyer. He ad a good case, but the lawyer said that it is very, very stressful to go to court. I was worried about the stress affecting the cancer.
It’s been 2 years now, and I think we may have made the wrong decision.
After my daughters graduate from high school next year, we’ll be moving out of silicon valley.
Yup. Hubby's also an EE, 25 years at the same company, laid off last fall. Applying for jobs, but not any interest. And he's got some pretty desireable credentials. Oh, and before the "if people were just willing to move where the jobs are, they'd find work" crowd shows up, he's applying nationally.
It is ironic.
I thought church groups were in the amnesty game for compassion not to join a bandwagon and for donors.
