From about 1885 until 1915, pacers and trotters were racing royalty in America, the popularity of these standardbred horses greater than that of any baseball star or other spectator sport. When the immortal pacer Dan Patch fell ill in 1904, news of his malady traveled across the nation as racing fans and the public at large anxiously sought out the slightest scrap of information about his condition. Of course, at a time when Ty Cobb, the countrys highest paid baseball player made $12,000 per year, Dan Patch was earning $1 million! And stories of Dans successes on the track were regularly printed above those of Cobb on the nations sports pages.
Then in 1917, the mare Mahuba had a foal; a large, beautifully conformed, chestnut-colored colt which owner August Belmonts wife Eleanor Robson Belmont would name Man o War. Two years later, racing on the turf had made an astonishing comeback. With even authorities in New York no longer working to drive thoroughbred racing with its crooked bookies and...

Yes!
I applaud your choice of horses.
I also rather enjoy the new trend of breeding draught horses to warm bloods.
Moderate, solid animals with a bit of ‘gait’, for good measure.
I don’t like scrawny *anything*.
[show breeders did this to my beloved Dobermanns and the breed has suffered for it]
These?

There’s one other breed that we reccomend, the Missouri Fox Trotter. We own one,he’s the equine good will ambassador. He’s gaited, calm, and is willing to work with anybody. His attitude is not an anomily, all the Fox Trotters I’ve ever worked with are just like him.
Sensible horses, Fox Trotters.
Walkers are also sensible horses and of course, I do not refer to the altered things you’d find in the ring.
I think they’re now referred to as “Plantation Walkers” or some such thing.
A neighbor had a field full of TWH mares and stallions and any one of them, I could catch and ride even though they’d never been trained or ridden, before.
Gentle and patient horses.
[but truth be told, I’ve always loved riding the wild-eyed horses nobody else enjoyed]
;D
Yeah, after clicking his link.
Could have been posted in full, but wasn’t.
To get that click.
I think you would love riding our mustang mare. She not wild eyed, but is she ever fast. She’s the result of hundereds of years of careful breeding(the Spanish knew what they wanted in a horse and worked to get the right animal)and it shows. When I ride her it’s a partnership, and she does everything right.
I’m very aware of the mustang heritage.
[Spanish Barb, Arabian, Lustiano and Andalusian...what a glorious mix!]
Yes, I would no doubt love her.
The horses of my youth were an American Saddlebred/Arab mix mare and a QH/App gelding.
Both were fast and hot and we all mutually adored one another.
I did not ride them like my dad did and they would always perform much better and more willingly for me, much to his annoyance.
We were always of one mind and one heart.
He just got on and forced them to his will.
I always ‘took them into account’, as it were.
I miss them every day.
“You have to open the article to read the list.
Yeah, that’s the scam.
Homeboy is pimping for hits.
There’s no other reason for him to excerpt this blog.
The hits pay for his hookers and crack.”
Looks like you should frequent Media Matters rather than FR. The entire piece is about 600 words, more than is necessary to post here. And there is some pretty fair racing history in the piece which many readers might like to read. It isn’t just about the winners list.
How is it more or less "necessary" dependent upon where it is posted?
Looks like you should frequent Media Matters rather than FR.
Why? Do they require blogpimps to post the full content?

So why not post that here?
We all know the answer, don't we?
Native Dancer was Vanderbilt’s great colt who lost his bid for the Triple Crown in the Kentucky Derby when he finished 2nd to Dark Star. Native Dancer had been badly bumped just after the start.
Northern Dancer was the foal of Natalma who was by Native Dancer.

That's because he's a blogpimp.
Shorter distance. Should be asterisked !
The horses aren’t bred the same?
What’s the difference? Do they now come out of the mares ass?
From what I heard the recent breeding of horses stresses speed and not endurance.
