Letter to the Editor: Return for Bergdahl will be hard (Grab a hankie/s)
Letter to the Editor The Yuma Sun ^ | June 8, 2014 | Red Chandler

Posted on 06/08/2014 4:00:08 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Sgt. Bergdahl will return home after five years as a prisoner of the Taliban. There won’t be any parades or welcome backs. I suspect, after a few years, the liberal vanguard will promote him to the lecture circuit to liberal colleges throughout the United States. Any money that he makes off books or in the lecture circuit he will earn. Like Jane Fonda, his life will not be pleasant. Any time he is in public he has to keep a low profile and never travel outside his home without a bodyguard.

Part of the blame for Sgt. Bergdahl’s cost of repatriation falls on the shoulders of his officers, who should have spotted the psychological defect and had him shipped back to the states or placed in a noncombat unit. In every war there are fighting men and women who can invent reasons they shouldn’t be there. If the military doesn’t indoctrinate those men and women for the reasons they are in the field of battle, it’s a failure of leadership of that military branch.

For the sake of morale and costs in lives, these weak ones must be weeded out before they get into the war zone.

Make no mistake, Sgt. Bergdahl was not turned into a radical Muslim. There isn’t a doubt in my mind but once he got captured he realized he made a terrible mistake. It will take years, if ever, before he regains normalcy.

He's crying about the life Jane Fonda has led? Really? And no mention of the damage done to an innocent man, George Zimmerman.

It’s nice to know the author can sit a half a world away and know the facts better than the guys who were there

“Never travel outside his home without a body guard.”
He’ll need more than one.

As a former bodyguard I can tell you he won’t be able to afford them.

It may not be too late. Perhaps they should have al-Bergdahl share a cell with Maj. Nadal Hassan so he can psycho-analyze him while they both await trial.

Damn right his life will not be pleasant and hopefully the only bodyguard he will have is at Leavenworth prison. POS traitor should rot in prison until he dies.

One bodyguard isn’t much of a help.Realistically, the single bodyguard is the first shooting victim, the protected party dies a couple of seconds later.

Why....yes....every Army Officer is also a trained and experienced Psychiatrist. And they only have one Soldier to worry about. They don’t need to think about the enemy and what he’s doing. Those Army Infantry Officers in Afghanistan were all sitting in a nice air conditioned office with a comfortable couch for Bergdahl to recline in and tell them how much his father ignored him.

To the average liberal, Zimmerman is much more of a bad guy than any AQ to have ever walked the earth, including Bin Laden.

Perhaps Obama will bestow a couple of Secret Service agents to keep him safe. He apparently did not think this through, as he immediately turned people against the Sgt. by trading him for GITMO prisoners, making a big deal about putting his father with his own suspicious connections on display, and then sending out Rice to make astounding claims of heroism.

If Obama was so concerned about not leaving any soldier behind, he should have figured out how to retrieve the Taliban visitor to be put on trial to clear up the desertion facts once and for all, and it seems there are plenty of witnesses to attest to him leaving of his free will. Not a POW by any definition in my book.

I predict Bergdahl will commit suicide (wink, wink) and Mom and dad will collect a bundle.

I’m almost considering that Bowe wants to go back to Afghanistan to work with the people. But he’ll do it via the Taliban.

MAYBE THIS DESERTER/TRAITOR SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT THIS THROUGH BEFORE MAKING HIS “MOVE”. TOUGH LUCK. ONE HAS TO LIVE WITH THE CONSEQUENCES OF ONE’S DECISIONS. (SORRY FOR THE CAPS...CAPS STUCK?)

I would think he’d have already ETS’d long ago, as he’s been gone five years.
