A New Jersey father defended his son, Ethan, after a simple pencil-swirling incident nearly resulted in the boy’s suspension earlier this year because a classmate claimed he was spinning it like a “gun.” Following intense media scrutiny, school officials reportedly backed off and it looked like the situation would just blow over.
Then Michael Chaplin says he received a stunning letter from New Jersey’s Department of Child Protection and Permanency and Department of Children and Families. Despite the fact that the superintendent of the Vernon Township School District decided not to take any disciplinary action, the state reportedly claimed to have found “an incident of abuse or neglect.”“I received a letter from them saying they had found an incident of abuse or neglect regarding Ethan because I refused to take him for psychological evaluation,” Chaplin told WPIX-TV.
Though he disagreed, Chaplin agreed to take his son for the evaluation. In addition to having his blood and urine being taken for testing, Ethan also spoke to a social worker.
Officials apparently found no behavioral problems with Ethan.

I would tell the dictators THEY are the ones in need of psychiatric care for making ridiculous assertions.
“No! I’m not taking my son anywhere except out of your jurisdiction!

Anywhere there is a government bureaucrat with even a little power, there will be abuses of that power.
this is what happens when you hand your children over to the government for what does not even amount to a meager education... 180 days a year for 13 years of indoctrination... and this is why this is no longer America—the America we say we love... the America we say we do not want to lose...
Sounds like he should leave the Peoples Republic of New Jersey for a state where there is still some semblance of liberty. Probably needs to move in a South or South by Southwest direction.
Unless the pendulum swings one more time towards sanity and away from Orwellian groupthink controls America is lost, we will have to take our share of responsibility, we were asleep at the switch.
We allowed this. I believe we all may have reasoned they aren’t after me, yet, so I will let it pass. After all this is America! Let the brain-dead among us have their day, right will win in the end.

This is local government out of control. First this guy needs to lawyer up. Then he needs to seriously consider moving to another state. People want to do something? Publicize this and run for school board/superintendent and other local offices. Nobody wants the job and some complete bozo winds up with it. Oh, and home school your kids.
Hats off to this Dad for doing the right thing and protecting his son’s future 2A rights... which certainly sending the kid to the Gulag is aimed at putting him on a list to prohibit the excersize of those rights down the like.
Next step, move out of New Jersey.

In state after state, these tyrants abuse children and families, and no one does a damn thing. From Justina Pelletier in Massachusetts, to this outrage in New Jersey, it goes on and on.
The father was a fool for taking his soon to these psychos.
Put the boy up for adoption if he won’t allow them to further abuse his son? Are they friggin’ kidding me?
I hope he sues the morons at his kid’s school as well as these “child protective” Nazis.
DYFS is going after this family because they perceive them to have enough money to pay for DYFS’s “services,” but not enough money to put up a good fight. It has nothing to do with the child’s well being. It never does.
The father is right to adamantly refuse their demand. The mere fact he is ‘evaluated’ will put him on a “potentially crazy” list and keep him from any number of freedoms many take for example. Owning a gun is one example.
Has Governor Christie checked-in on this?

You wait to tell them that until *after* he’s left the area, and preferably after the *rest* of your family is gone, too.

I just saw the video interview with the father on another thread.
This is simply a matter of the dictatorial behavior mongers retaliating for having their authority questioned.
They need to be fired NOW!
He needs to lawyer up, then get in front of every camera possible, and NAME NAMES. Call them out. Say “This person wants to drug my child for holding a pencil!” Call them out on it. Hit the media, social media, every possible outlet.
Why are the names of the responsible officials NEVER given in these stories? Not even in “conservative” media. The only state official named is Chris Christie. He’s not really the problem here.
