Bergdahl Could Be The Beginning Of The End For Obama
Western Journalism ^ | June 13, 2014 | Fred Weinberg

When Walter Cronkite came out against the war in Viet Nam in February of 1968, former President Lyndon Johnson said, “If I’ve lost Cronkite, I’ve lost Middle America.”

And that is exactly what history will say actually happened.

To watch NBC, CBS, and the Washington Post accurately (if reluctantly) report on the trade of five members of the Taliban’s starting line-up, for a soldier that the preponderance of the evidence says is a deserter, should be on that same level for Barack Obama.

Only it is moderate America that Obama has lost. You know, the people who kept him and morons like Harry Reid in office. This one has them all running for the exits.

The story of Bowe Bergdahl is a tragedy on a lot of levels.

First of all, to hear his fellow soldiers, he is not, as advertised, an American hero.

One of his Afghanistan comrades said that at best, he is a deserter; and at worst, he is a traitor.

To hear Barack Obama and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Martin Dempsey, whatever else Bergdahl is, he was a captured American soldier–and we take care of our own. And that should certainly be true in spite of the spin doctoring that is being done to rehabilitate this guy in the eyes of the American public.

But, on yet a third level, we traded five players from the Taliban’s first string for this guy. The political cynics among us—me included—couldn’t help but note that the exchange was timed in such a manner as to knock the VA scandal off the front pages. Of course, replacing a scandal with a scandal probably wasn’t the original intent.

And, finally, in many ways, we created the Taliban. A helpful lesson in history would be the largely true movie “Charlie Wilson’s War.”

While the United States has always said that it doesn’t negotiate with terrorists, the fact is that these terrorists were originally armed with Russian-made arms our CIA acquired for them, when they were fighting a Soviet invasion that started in 1979–which was ultimately repelled.

As the movie notes (you can get it on iTunes)—quite correctly—in the end, the United States left Afghanistan; and the mujahedeen we were equipping morphed into the Taliban, which hosted Osama Bin Laden’s invention—al Qaeda.

While neither Obama nor his minions are responsible for that history, the fact is that they totally miscalculated the impact of swapping five people who were instrumental in 9-11 for an Army PFC (he was promoted to Sergeant in captivity) who deserted his post–and whose story was questionable at best.

Obama has won his last election.

His approval ratings are lower than 50%, and he is mired in scandal after scandal and shows little concern because he has little concern.

But now that he has finally done something that has lost him the media which made him a Teflon President, he’d better hope there are no similar scandals in the wings.

Given the pomposity and general lack of competence of his administration (and him, for that matter), it could be a long two and a half years.

Would someone please explain to this guy the difference between the Northern Alliance and the Taliban?

Because he seems to regard them as one and the same.

Bergdahl Could Be The Beginning Of The End For Obama...maybe not Obama, but possibly Hillary - after she came out saying none of the five released Talibans was a threat to the US, only to Afghanistan, but it now appears at least one of them was complicit in the 911 attack on New York....

Ford, as president, refused to send American aircraft to help the So. Vietnamese stem the No. Vietnamese invasion in 1975.

NVA troops were so massed in specific areas that a large B 52 raid would have wiped them out, esp. on Route 1, in the Central Highlands and some places in the Delta.

Ford, a weak man, gave into the the communists in the Democrat Party and let SVN, Cambodia and Laos go down the red drain with a resulting 2 Million plus deaths.

Obama is doing the same thing with Iraq. He needs time to think about forming a commission that will investigate and come back in a month with a possible solution. In other words, Obama is a communist coward but he planned for a lot of this to happen with his deliberate cut and run policies.

He wants the US to fail everywhere, and he’s doing a damn good job of seeing that it happens.

In a sane America, he would have been arrested, tried, convicted and shot for treason. In today’s screwed up America, he got reelected as president by the most ignorant bunch of voters (white liberals, black welfare addicts, Hispanic irredentists, and the whole communist/marxist/progressive movement, esp. from Chicago).

Unless there is a military coup, America is lost, in the furture. Israel is toast in the near future. England is basically gone and France is not far behind. Ukraine - color it red. So. Korea - color it attacked. Red China - will rule much of the Asian world until they collide with the Jihadists. Then it will be nuclear war from China to Pakistan to Iraq/Iran. Rats killing rats, after having gotten rid of western civilization.

I doubt it.

Understanding the American public: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSUXXzN26zg

Ideas for Obama:

Open up the DoD for transexuals and dwarfs.

Offer free health care to illegals that promise to get to the back of the line for a streamlined process for citizenship which should not be confused with amnesty. They obviously follow the other laws, so their promise is solid.

Have Michael/Michelle or whatever that Wookie which lives with him in the WH is called, dominate the news talking about mundane crap.

Have Bouncy or whatever her name is, come to the WH and play limbo.

He could invite the Clinton’s over for a swinger party and have MSNBC stream it live and commercial free in HD.

Call for high level meetings with Carter to discuss foreign policy and US energy strategies.

He could start a post presidential career now. He could be the face on Crackerjack boxes, and everyone can try to guess what he will possibly do next! If you guess right, you get to play golf or limbo with bouncy.

Why not? Things are so surreal at this point that even the most absurd dreamed up stuff will pale in comparison to what his next surprise is for us.

Homosexuality was only approved a few years back, yet many of the personnel I see who claim it as their sexual proclivity are pretty high in rank. Weird, huh?

During WWII news readers like Cronkhite and Murrow et al, lived with strict government censorship because of their idolatry of FDR. They grew famous pushing the pro-war, pro-British, pro-Soviet Russia FDR government line.

There was no, repeat NO government censorship during Vietnam. What there was, was video. 90% of the evening "news," was video coverage of the war there and protests here. The coverage pushed the pro-communist line that the war was lost ... that we were losing ... our casualties were too high ... our allies were corrupt, etc. etc.

This began when JFK was President and he himself turned against the war. It was never told to the American TV news audience that JFK promoted escalation of the Vietnam War against the advice of BOTH Eisenhower and MacArthur. Naturally, the MSM that adored JFK turned against it with him. Voilà. The anti-war movement was born. LBJ inherited JFK's team ... who had already turned against the war ... and he escalated the war further, even as highly placed people in his administration escalated their secret support for the anti-war movement (e.g., Bill Moyers). Korea. Vietnam. Iraq. Afghanistan. Lives wasted. What the soldiers win, the politicians give away.

The scandals/bungles/crises are coming so fast and furious (so to speak) now, that they actually push each other off of the front page...this is not a sustainable tactic.

Your caption was “Negros and Women”. I don’t care who staged the photo, or why, those men and women wear the uniform, took the oath, and these days walk a fine line. And for all we know, we’re “requested” to be there.

Your “interpretation” is what rubs me.

They don’t deserve that blanket assessment.

If he’s discharged, then it’s over. To be brought to trial under the federal recall statute, iirc, it has to be for a capital crime. I could be wrong, but I think I remember that in the Hamandiyah trial.

“This began when JFK was President and he himself turned against the war.”

Are you sure about this?

There was no American ground war during Kennedy’s presidency. He had 15,000 military ‘advisors’ in RSVN but no ground combat troops. Whatever contact occurred between Americans and the communist insurgents was very limited. I’m real familiar with this because my father was one of those 15,000 advisors.

Kennedy not only didn’t remove us from RSVN he got us increasingly enmeshed there. By 1963 Kennedy had become dissatisfied with President Ngo Dinh Diem, finding Diem to be an impediment to Kennedy’s designs for South Vietnam.

Our ambassador, Frederick Nolting, was recalled by JFK and replaced by Henry Cabot Lodge. Kennedy recalled Nolting because Nolting was very close to Diem and wouldn’t want to go along with what Kennedy had planned.

That plan was to stage a coup and remove Diem, replacing him with someone more compliant. The order to do this originated with Averill Harriman and was carried out by Lodge’s military assistant. Lodge let the South Vietnamese generals know that we would support a coup.

On November 1, 1963 Diem and his brother were murdered, leaving South Vietnam’s government chaotic and rudderless, a situation that would last for years. And of course 21 days later Kennedy himself was assassinated, leaving Johnson to inherit the mess that the Kennedy brain trust had created. Johnson of course made this worse by sending in ground combat troops while simultaneously handicapping them with no plan for defeating North Vietnam.

The beginning of the end is when the fuel tank starts leaking, Bergdahl may be the point where the tank is empty but there’s still forward inertia. After that, deceleration and distance traveled depend on the strength of opposing forces.
