Audiences will get more than a dystopian future when they line up to see Dawn of the Planet of the Apes next month.
The second film in the rebooted Planet of the Apes franchise reportedly packs a pro-gun control message, according to a new review of the film in Variety. The story also touches on environmental fear mongering, albeit in a reduced fashion compared to the first installment.
The Apes franchise has always been a politically loaded one, and this latest entry states its left-wing credo in ways both allegorically implicit and bluntly direct. (Youd have to be pretty obtuse to miss the pro-gun-control subtext attached to misdeeds on both sides of the man-monkey battle.) While the previous film functioned as something of a cautionary tale against mans destructive meddling with his environment, Dawn apportions blame a little more equally, as the beasts (introduced in a thrilling, technically jaw-dropping faceoff against a grizzly bear) are shown to be no less reckless an influence on the biosphere than their former superiors. I always think ape better than human, Caesar admits to Malcolm, his speech patterns having evolved rather rapidly even over the course of this film. I see now how like them we are. Its a reverse epiphany that would have Jane Goodall in tears.
The upcoming film is set roughly a decade after the 2011 hit which showed how the franchise's genetically engineered apes came to be....

shocked... SHOCKED I tell ya
I agree. We shouldn’t give guns to apes. We should limit gun ownership to humans. And possibly some intelligent dogs and horses.
So 10 years later the apes have been left alone to become powerful enough to try and take over the world? Did the US disarm or something during that time?
Keep guns out of the hands of the monkeys. The idea has some merit.
“Get your stinking paws off my guns you damn dirty ape!”
I agree, make them buy them. No freebies.
PLANET OF THE APES is a product of the late 60s and there are obvious racial overtones. I wouldn’t say it’s Hollywood PC.
That would explain what reduces the human population
End of the first movie the pilot (who Ceasar had bit) had his nose bleeding as he got on a flight. They showed a flight board with cities all over the world. The infection killed billions and this movie is about the few humans that remained trying to get energy from a Dam in ape controlled territory.
but how did the ape population get so large?
Did I miss something? The article seemed to not include the bias.
A serious plague would certainly put rogue monkeys on a back burner for a while.
Report: ‘Apes’ Sequel Pushes Gun Control
Well if they don’t tell the Sheeple they’ll never know will they
I didn’t see the first remake and never had any plans to see this. I am glad that I shall miss absolutely nothing.
They could be paid back for this dido by the suggestion that they are *implying* that apes=blacks. Thus, they are racists.

well the best part of it was zzzzzzzzz ,sorry what was I saying
That bad, eh?
There is only one “Planet of the Apes” movie and it is the original starring Charlton Heston. All of the others stink. That is all.
Darn. Please let the new Transformers movie be absent of this tripe. While I did enjoy the action of White House Down the leftwing propoganda was almost too much to suffer thru
It’s never a good idea to give an ape a gun.
Who knew that there were so many apes in the US?
U got dat rite
I’ll watch it when it shows up on bittorrent.
Get real. Cats are way more intelligent than dogs. I have made up numerous studies showing that to be true.
Read the comments on Variety. Uproarious. I keep going back and laughing. I think one of the best was referring to the ape Caesar riding a horse carrying an m4, the commenter said that that was a great picture of our commander in chief.
They elected Barack Obama :-)
Actually that was a scientist who worked with Caesars friend at the drug company. He was exposed to the virus that gives apes intelligence. apparently its a deadly pathogen to us.
O God I love it so much but we can’t hand ammo like that to our enemies!
Yeah, uh I think you’re right.
I don’t blame the Mod for removing it (I didn’t intend it like that).
I've been watching it, piecemeal, the last few hours and I got bored. The way they 'transform' from car(the autobots) to warrior is repetitious and boring as well. No imagination, it's just an obvious CGI blend routine.
Probably be a whole bunch of food just laying around, with most of the humans killed off by a plague.
ahhh leftist propaganda..funny how these same Hollywood lib who hate guns so much have armed guards protecting their asses 24/7
Didn’t the first one attempt to have Charlton Heston make some “antigun” point?
I think it was achieved in the editing of a cameo scene he was in.
Hollyweird missed the point of “revolution”. Of course the chimps are going to use guns.
Our founding fathers understood this.
So do Communist dictators.
“We shouldnt give guns to apes.”
I say let them earn the right to bear arms. Let them successfully complete a firearms safety class; and pass a test to get a written permit.
But if there isn’t abortion for apes how far have apes really come? That should be the real issue. That and the accepted recognition of buetiful same sex ape love. C’mon Hollywood, tackle the real issues apes would have to face.
Heston’s rolling in his grave.

Oh its already on Torrent sites then.
Well, when its comes to the Transformers movies I’m not looking for quality just an hour and a half of mindless escapism:))
Actually, in the original Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, black people self-aligned with the apes' freedom fight, so much so that the filmmakers had to tone down the destructive ending and add a conciliatory speech by Caesar for fear of starting riots.
So did the US government instantly put these “beasts” on welfare, EBT, WIC, Food stamps, Section 8 housing, Medicaid free in-state tuition and drivers licenses?
There should be reasonable ape control. ..
No monkeying around....
I’m gonna guess;
“they stopped using birth control”?
Just a guess...
