With the escape route of deniability closed, CIA Director John Brennan grudgingly apologized to Senate intelligence committee leaders for his Agency’s covert perusal of their correspondence.
“Yeah, we’re sorry,” Brennan growled. “But I still don’t see what the big deal is. We spy on everyone. Why should Senators be exempt from our efforts to protect national security? Are they somehow better than the average Americans they supposedly represent?”
“Is it really implausible that Senators having access to classified information might pose a significant security risk?” Brennan continued. “I could argue that the need to keep an eye on what they say to who is even more important than monitoring what the great unwashed masses are doing.”
Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif), Chair of the Select Committee on Intelligence didn’t dispute the need for “a comprehensive surveillance of potentially dangerous communications,” but questioned whether “members of the Government ought to be ensnared in the net. After all, the role of the CIA is to protect the Government from all enemies domestic and foreign. The time and energy they wasted scrutinizing me and other Senators diverted them from their primary responsibility.”
Thus far an internal CIA investigation of itself has turned up no evidence of criminal wrongdoing. Nonetheless, Brennan has convened an internal accountability board chaired by former Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Indiana) “in order to restore confidence in the Agency’s good name. Having a respected former Senator give us a clean bill of health should help bolster the image of the CIA in the public’s eye.”

As I recall the original OSS/CIA charter was for spying done INTERNATIONALLY, not domestic spying. That was Hoovers purview.
Yeah HE also “spied” on three Passports and then possible used thumbscrew bribery on the Kenyan born illegal undocumented alien to get the top post at CIA being a staunch Muzzie himself. Europe (Eurabia) died within a few years 1939-45 killing 6+ million Jews. They have been replaced by 20-30 million animalistic Muzzies. The U.S., we knew, is on the same trend with the Kenyan administration’s promoting it. just watch it while most “Americans”(???) still sleeping!!!

I don’t agree with Brennan, but his statement is right to the point and correct.
