White Privilege Debate Benefits White Liberals Not Black Americans

White Privilege

No term in the American lexicon has impacted the national debate over the past few years as has "white privilege." The term initially sprung up in that great cradle of pointless conversation, left-wing academia, and has gone on to dominate the American political discussion with increasing furor in the years of the Obama Administration. Liberals assert that the causation of so many of the social inequities in our nation stem from the inherent privilege that white Americans enjoy in our society, as a result of our history and racial discrimination. As is the case, however, with nearly all liberal-progressive talking points related to black politics, the ultimate results of the "white privilege" debate does virtually nothing to improve the conditions for lower-income black Americans and serves only to benefit the egos of white liberals.

To take aversion at the obsessive discussion of white privilege does not necessarily mean one is unable to recognize the social inequities of modern America. That we have some fundamental problems with race relations and that our unique history has presented certain hurdles to African-Americans is self-evident. That said, the simple acknowledgement of it does about as much good toward solving the problems of racial inequities and the economic state of poorer black Americans as does throwing a glass of water at a raging inferno. In many cases, the continued discussion of white privilege serves to turn that water into kerosene and does more to divide our republic as it does to unite it.

The true problem with any discussion related to so-called white privilege is it represents the whole of liberal-progressive thought on the subject. One cannot engage the left on a cause and effect debate on the real issues that impact the black community without the conversation repeatedly being drawn back to white privilege. One can cite numerous amounts of data on single-parent birthrates, crippling urban economic policies, the impact of illegal immigration on inner-city labor competition, crime, failing public schools, etc without having these points dismissed and replaced with vague talking points of combating white privilege as the ultimate panacea for the ills of our nation.

By placing the focus on white privilege, the Caucasian liberal-progressive disingenuously appears to be championing the cause of black Americans, when in reality does so to benefit their own incessant narcissism. It allows them to assuage whatever guilt they feel for benefiting from a prosperous American society that they so often bemoan. They are able to look at themselves in the mirror and proclaim "I am one of the good guys" due to their vocal disapproval of a society in which they enjoy the advantages of the disparities they claim hold down others.

They are furthermore able to deflect any culpability for the role their political ideology plays in the continued inequities of our society. After all, the Democratic Party that the vast majority of white liberal progressives support has controlled virtually every predominately African-American community for close to 50 years. While majorities in Congress and the party of the White House change, nearly all elected officials and local political control in black neighborhoods are i the hands of Democrats, who have had free rein to enact liberal policies which affect the day-to-day lives of most black Americans. By placing the blame on the unseen boogeyman of racial oppression, they relieve Democrats of any reproach of their leadership for the problems facing the black community.

Bill O'Reilly and Megyn Kelly Argue About 'White Privilege (via YouTube)

The problem with this argument is that it is hollow and belies reality. For years conservatives have pointed to the alarming rise of the single-parent household as the single greatest factor for child poverty, lower education achievement, higher crime rates and lower-income as adults. The correlation is undeniable as Asian Americans have actually surpassed whites as having the highest median family incomes, in large part because they have lower single-parent household rates (11 percent) than their white counterparts (26 percent). Unable to continue their previous of denial, some Democrats, including President Obama, begrudgingly acknowledge the links between stable two-parent households and professional success in America.

But even here liberal-progressives skew the argument to return back to their theories of white privilege as the nefarious culprit. The left-wing intelligentsia has claimed that the debilitating residue of slavery is one again cause for the alarming rates of single-parent households in the black community, as high as 72% by some counts. Having been displaced from their families during the slave trade and subsequent life on the plantation, African-Americans were unable to naturally develop the same appreciation and sense of family bonds that other races enjoy. This sounds logical until you consider that in 1964, prior to the passage of the liberal-progressive brainchild that is the Great Society welfare state, black family structure was actually quite strong, as less than 25% of African-American children grew up in single-parent homes. Once again, reality is replaced with a simplistic argument which makes them appear to be benevolently sensitive to the plight of black people.

And so it goes with nearly every argument. The lack of small business ownership opportunities are not due to crippling progressive economic policies in the inner-city, such as a young woman who wishes to open up a hair braiding business being forces to take as many government mandated "training" hours as does a paramedic, but rather the inherent racism of America, specifically whites. To the liberal pushing amnesty, illegal immigration has no factor in the lack of job opportunities for young black males, it is all the fault of racism. On all issues that can revert back to the standard argument of a pervasive of which they naturally cannot be blamed for not having tangible solutions to. They can then go back to their black constituents, generally voiced by their black Democrat compatriots, that they are rendered incapable of improving the conditions of the citizenry so long as the legacy of racism continues and that the people's anger should be directed there, rather than their political leadership. They cast themselves as at the very least championing their cause by recognizing the problem, even if they are impotent to solve it.

White Privilege Conservative Privilege

As conservatives, we must recognize that it is disingenuous to dismiss the racial inequities that still exist in an America that nonetheless has made great strides toward equality in our nations short history. Many black Americans, particularly those in poorer inner-city areas, have a childhood and life that scarcely resembles ours in a number of ways. But it is equally important that the black community recognize that all problems cannot be traced to the residue of slavery and that by making positive reforms, there are tangible solutions to these problems. Urban public schools are run with a mixture of corruption and incompetence that robs minority children of the opportunity to adequately compete in future job markets. There is inane legislative policies that prevent black Americans from starting small businesses and enhancing black economic growth. There is also a culture of corruption within the Democratic Party that prospers and is made more powerful on the backs of human misery. And all the patronizing gestures of sympathy in the world aren't going to change that.

It is impossible for a white person, liberal or conservative, to truly empathize with the plight of black Americans. Empathy requires to be able to truly put ones self in another shoes and for whites, this is an impossibility. Take away empathy and to cast someone as a victim leaves only pity as a motivating factor. And it is equally impossible to have pity for someone without at some level feeling a sense of superiority over them. As much as conservatives need be sensitive to the factors which cause social inequities between racial groups, black Americans will never receive our pity. This will not happen because we view black Americans as we do ourselves, human being born of woman with certain gifts and talents bestowed upon us by our Creator and our parentage. We do however, see very clearly some of the political and economic factors which contribute to a reversal of the historic progress of blacks in America. We also have some very tangible solutions.

It is incumbent upon conservatives to devise methods to better articulate these solutions. But it is also in the interest of the black community to be more open-minded and at the very least hear these proposals out and not dismiss them out of loyalty to the Democratic Party. The only alternative is to continue to place blind loyalty in a liberal political leadership that continues to fail black America, but speaks a good game about "white privilege," but to whose benefit?

Since much of the media (all forms) is still run MOSTLY by Democrats, they still spew formulate the terminology, usually GOOD for minorities (Women are considered "minorities.") and BAD for whites, especially white males...ESPECIALLY straight, white males...and super ESPECIALLY straight, white, heterosexual, Christian males. You know, the husbands, fathers, brothers, uncles, sons, etc., who are half of our lives.

Thus the same old, tired, anti-white, anti-straight hypocrisy from the Left. Nothing new here.

While we post all of our articles here, our primary marketing is driven at the (apolitical) black and Latino community, You would be pleasantly surprised how much the sentiment is growing there as well. People are (slowly but surely) getting tired of tired excuses, division and pandering.

White privilege comes from 3000 years of social and cultural evolution that took us beyond aboriginal existence. In that attitudes, values, talents, skills and knowledge conducive to advanced cultures becomes ingrained in our European culture. The persons who are supposedly damaged by this have only 200-300 years of social and cultural evolution. Being surrounded by an advanced culture is their great opportunity to catch up quicker than the 2-3 thousand years it took us and would take them if they were left to there own devices. No one ever empowered themselves by being victims and you cannot empower anyone else by making victims out of themselves. If they advance in that way then they really have not gone through the process and most never will in our lifetimes.

It doesn't make a WHOLE lot of sense to target a population that doesn't have the money that such targeting merits.

If there are apolitical blacks and Latinos who are "(slowly but surely) getting tired of tired excuses, division and pandering" they WOULD be the educated ones...and it's their EDUCATION that allows them to be "(slowly but surely) getting tired of tired excuses, division and pandering"...not some SUDDEN, OUT-OF-THE-BLUE INSPIRATION.

BY ITS VERY NATURE apolitical folks DON'T CARE where the money handout is coming from, as long as it keeps on coming.

What I mean by that, is that sure, we market our pieces to conservatives, black conservatives and the like (and directly at liberals as well)...but we also hit platforms and markets that are outside the choir and find readers commenting on our politically-tuned pieces who may have come to our site initially on a sports story, or through marketing of stories through cultural, hip-hop or simply generic venues.

And then they hang around to see what else might interest them.
That makes sense.

People who try to make you feel guilty are trying to manipulate you in other ways, too, even if it’s only to shut you up. Not playing that game.

“White privilege” is a sociological term designed to excuse blacks for bad behavior, poor performance educationally, poor performance economically, and high reliance on the public dole. It is a control term intended to prevent black individuals from proving they can work hard, study hard, be decent people, and succeed in life, right along with white people. It is a term that represents the psychological conditioning necessary to keep blacks on the Democrat plantation, militant, full of angst, anger and hopelessness.

Dont get me wrong, yes, we need (and by we I mean conservatism) to be in the colleges and whatnot, but we also have a true opportunity with the “lost boys” of progressive-liberalism. The fastest growing segment of the GOP vote, believe it or not, is black males 18-29. In 2008, 96% of them voted Obama (4% McCain). In 2012, 80% Obama, 19% Romney. From our end, we are picking up readers and active participants from the guy who opened up a small biz selling hub caps, the guy opening up a small barber shop, the guy selling on the phones, the “legal” hustlers. The guy who sat and watched what liberalism and the social welfare state did to him and his family. The guy who didnt know his dad. Trust me, I appreciate your input and suggestion and we try our best to spread our very small marketing resources as best we can, but every platform needs a niche. And our niche “retweets.”

And CNN didnt break down by age/race & gender. Sure, the black female vote 18-29 went nearly ALL to Obama, it is the males where the disillusionment exists.

"White Privilege" sounds to me suspiciously like "Dirty Jooos." It is a deliberate attempt to engender hate directed at a particular class of people.

If someone said to me "Check Your white privilege" I believe I would hit them square in the mouth as hard as I could. This is exactly the correct response to be used on these hate mongers.

What white privilege?

I was born what I am, have been what I am for over 60 years, any time there was a ‘fight-picking’, it was always, always, whether in military uniform or after, the Negroid that chose to do the picking, whether drunk, doped or sober!

I did not go looking, seeking, taunting, or teasing.

As a kid in Connecticut, which I think still resides above the Mason-Dixon line, there was many, many fights in high school in the ‘60’s, and it was always the Negroids mad about something. Cries of racism, within a school that produced a state champion football team, headed by a Negroid quarterback, by the name of Wilson!! An Armenian kid named Guroyian championed the cross-country team that year, too.

I look at Ferguson, with the race-baiters et al, and support the opinion that if the first wave of rioters were put down, things would not be this far along, to where that Marine is near death!

There is no such thing as white privilege. It has simply supplanted “affirmative action” as the most palatable shorthand for reverse bigotry.
